HELP! Symptoms of pregnancy on Implanon? :(

I'm currently on the Implanon implant, and I've read thru a lot of things on the net saying it is very possible to get pregnant on Implanon, despite my GP saying nobody gets pregnant on it, ever. I've been on it since June 2010, I'm 16 at the moment (please don't judge), and I'm in a relationship with my 18 year old boyfriend, have been for 6 months. I never originally wanted to get the Implanon implant (blame it on a VERY controlling ex-boyfriend) and now I have it, they refuse to remove it until 2013. Enough of the backstory, lol

About 3 days ago, I noticed my breasts were very tender, and it hurt a lot for my nipples to be touched. They are still hurting today, and also I've been peeing WAY more than normal. I don't know if I'm thinking way too deep into things and getting worried too much, but I don't know D: Do I leave it or do I get a pregnancy test? Are these symptoms normal? HELP! :(

just go to the doctor and explain your symptoms, I'm not sure if you can do a test with an implant or not and the quicker your mind is at ease the better, no contraception is 100% only not having sex is lol
if your doctor is a pain, just see another one, or maybe a sex clinic?

gd luck x

Firstly pregnancy tests would work on implanon. Secondly it is a very reliable form of contraception but as mumtobe said none is absolutely 100% and of course if you google you hear about the very small number of failures.

The other thing to remember is that implanon is progesterone, and it is this hormone that gives you some of the symptoms of pregnancy (like sore boobs and weeing a lot).

If you google implanon and go to its official site there is some useful advice there.

They can't force you to keep it in, I had one in may 2010 and was fine for a year then bled heavily then I had pregnancy symptoms sickness sore boobs and weight gain but wasn't pregnant. I got mine out as I hated it I just went to family planning and they did it there and then.

Just got the implant in earlier this week. No problems so far...hoping this is the contraception to stay. Have never used hormonal contraceptives until now. Hope things are working out for you SallyGator. Can you access a family planning clinic?

After speaking with a HV about my initial reluctance of going on the implant, I was explaining about the stories online of how women get the implant and then fall pregnant. She said it's more likely they were in the early stages of pregnancy and then got the Implant not realising. I know I definitely was not pregnant at the time of getting the implant (more chance of hell freezing over!).

"freelancescientist" For one you "CAN NOT" get a positive pregnancy test on Implanon my Dr said so as well as the PPL from Implanon they told me to ask for a ultra sound and two Dr's should explain that crap to us then not say you will not get periods and make it sound great!!!!
