OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD!!

Jemma that is the best news in the world! You so deserve it, you must be over the moon.

Whoops my Nanny just walked in and asked what I'm snivelling about

So how did you tell DH? Did you wrap up the pissy stick?

oliveoil · 06/11/2003 10:07

ARRRGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

CONGRATULATIONS! FANTASTIC! YIPPEEEEEEEEEE!

Jemma7 · 06/11/2003 10:08

I'm still going to stay here - can't leave all you lot

Got so much to do, having not been pregnant before there so many things i need to know and learn - like what i can and can't eat, when to go to doctors, what happens at each different stage etc etc.

CountessDracula · 06/11/2003 10:12

Jem, buy a book called What to Expect when you're Expecting, I found it really good and sensible.

Jemma7 · 06/11/2003 10:14

Well, we got in from the fireworks and he sat down stairs watching the footie - i went upostairs to the loo but couldn't wee so came out when downstairs for a minute and went to go again.
DP shouted up the stairs to see if i was alright, made out i had a dodgy tummy - still couldn't go.

Went downstairs again, done some washing up and had a drink then managed to go for the worlds smallest wee - decided to do it in a cup to make sure it got a good soaking (Nice )
Waiting for 20 seconds, big cross appeared in the box - went downstairs and DP was asleep on sofa - tucking test into back on my trousers and woke him up then held it right infront of his face and said "Guess What"!

He got the biggest shock ever as he didn't even know when a.f was due or that i was going to test.

He is sooooo excited bless him - roll on 29th June

Thanks for all your support girlies, i couldn't have done it without you (And DP of course )!!
Spreading Babydust to you all x

I got a mag called Pregnancy & Birth each month, has day by day guide to size of baby, what to expect, readers birth experiences (!) of all kinds, eating guides, all sorts. Repeats itself a bit but I felt all maternal sitting on the settee reading it with my craving of choice, pickled onion Monster Munch.

Also got a lighthearted book called 'Best friends guide to pregnancy' can't remember the author. Bit american slant to it but quite funny and informative. You can have it if you want, let me know. xx

hana · 06/11/2003 10:26

Great big congratulations to you Jemma, fantastic news to hear! I have most of the 'What to Expect' books and find them excellent. I do have the American editions though so some things were slightly different (but I am Canadian and bought them at home each one on a different visit!) Go to a bookstore and have a good browse of all the books before you decide on one. or two.
I'm really pleased for you and your husband! Yah!

Hi Jemma - join the pregnancy threads and pregnancy websites and you'll get loads of info.

Can I ask....did you know you were pregnant (secretly). I mean did you feel different than other months and feel sure this was the one??

CountessDracula · 06/11/2003 10:57

OMG Jem I've just remembered the Bakewell tart! Helsbels you are amazing, can you tell me when I'll be pg again. We should rename you Madame Helsbels and buy you a little tent

Jemma7 · 06/11/2003 10:58

I didn't really Bigbird - other months i have thought i had symptons but this time i didn't notice any difference really!

the last week or so i have been getting cramp in my stomach, not like period pains but actualy cramp. Not for long periods of time but like sitting on the chair and reaching up for the light switch which was obviously pulling my tummy muscles!

I'm sitting at work now and no-one knows, feels really strange that i know this great big wonderful secret and no-one else does!

Jemma7 · 06/11/2003 11:00

oliveoil · 06/11/2003 11:10

Helsbels - getting any mysterious vibes off the olive oil or anything in your kitchen for me?

Jemma7 · 06/11/2003 11:13

Thanks everyone - due 6th July - thought i was 29th June but M2T realised i'd got over excited

Bit cautious about posting too much on here - don't want to seem as if i'm rubbing in it!

Think i may just linger a read for a while until we have a few more graduates - Thanks again for all your help and advise.

Rub it in all you want, it's your day!

MoseGirl · 06/11/2003 11:27

Hi

I am new to Mumsnet and after reading this thread feel 'this is the place I need to be!'

I am trying to get PG but it is early days so this is my story so far.....

I got married in June to my wonderful DH (hope my abbv.is correct)
15 years on the pill and finally stopped taking it on 1st October and LMP was 6th Oct.

OV'd around 22nd (I Think) and did major BD on the 23rd. (and 24th/25th/28th/31st/3rd!!!! )

I don't know what to expect next, I guess it can go either way???? I don't feel at all like a period is near, no sore boobs etc but I am having some pains (especially at night) on the left of my groin and pulling pains in lower groin area in the day.

Can anyone relate to any of this? When can I test if I don't know how long a normal cycle is?

Is it to soon to get PG?

Mosegirl x

CountessDracula · 06/11/2003 11:33

Jemma don't be silly, you have always been delighted for everyone else on this thread who has got pg, now enjoy it you silly thing!

CountessDracula · 06/11/2003 11:34

Sorry and Hi Mosegirl.

I don't know I'm afraid, I'm sure someone else will be able to help you, best of luck!

M2T · 06/11/2003 12:20

Mosesgirl - If your LMP was 6/10/2003 you may be able to get an early positive now.....

Try the Boots own brand.... everyone on here raves about it for being fantastic at early detection.

Some women have a flush of fertility right after they stop taking the pill.... soooooo it is possible.

Do you normally get bad period pains before your AF starts??

Helsbels · 06/11/2003 12:23

Mosegirl, I was very similar with 1st pg. I came off pill after more than 15 years (!) on 17th Oct. Had never had a normal period since I was about 16 so did not know hat to expect. Midwife/GP advised it could take up to 2 years for the pill to leave your system fully. I was lucky and caught on 30th November so only 6 weeks later. So no, it is not too early but don't get over excited as it can take a while. Good luck - I hope it happens as quickly for you as it did for me

MoseGirl · 06/11/2003 12:48

M2T - I do usually get pains, and real backache!
The weird thing was I may have imagined this but did feel different for a few days after the night in question!!!! but may just have been imagining it....

...I think I may pop to Boots latr and try a test tonight.

Fingers crossed - miracles do happen!

(I don't suppose Helsbels is around with her positive bakewell vibes like she had with Jemma7!) :-)

hana · 06/11/2003 12:57

Jemma forgot - of course the first book you should get is the Mumsnet on Babies one!!
Mosegirl - good luck, fingers crossed for you too!
