Recesssion causes drop in US birth rates - has it made you think twice?

I found this particularly interesting, research which shows a sharp drop in US birth rates in line with the recession: www.investoo.co.uk/recession-caused-sharp-fall-in-us-birth-rates-research/ - people are thinking twice about having children due to the tough economy. Has this influenced anyone's decision due to the state of the financial markets?

It has made me and OH rethink how big a family we can really afford (want 4, considering we may be able to only afford 2). But we're taking things one step at a time and just starting with the 1 to begin with and see where we go from there.

Well, it's definitely made me say no to any more dc.

We have 3 and dp would love at least one more but his job is just not stable enough and I really don't want to work anymore hours than I do currently. Dp works in construction and there just isn't enough reliable work around. I can't see that changing enough anytime soon.

It's a shame as I think I would like one more eventually.

nope, am expecting number 5 (Dh has had a massive promotion and pay rise this year so I laugh in the face of the recession!)
