Aaaaggh. Why do I feel pg?

Why am I gagging over the toilet in the mornings, have sore, tinging boobs, am going to bed at 9.30 exhausted and yet have taken 2 pg tests, both BFN????

We aren't TTC, I'm not desperate to be pg (in that I'm not anxiously watching every sign, although I would be happy to have another).

We did BD without protection 4 weeks ago (mid-cycle), but 2 weeks later AF came, although different to usual. I did a pg test after that as I was feeling pg, it came up negative. I put it out of my mind but with tingling, sore boobs, lots of motion sickness like last time I was pg and feeling sick in general so I did another test today but still a BFN.

What's going on? Any ideas anyone? I never have any PMT so this is all a bit peculiar. Logically I'm sure I'm not pg, but I don't feel comfortable drinking & eating normally just because I have all the symptoms. We're in Australia for work, but treating it as a bit of a holiday so indulging a bit more than usual. I've been here for 5 months, so I'm sure it's not jet-lag related.

Har

This happened to me

I'm due in April

I had loads of BFNs, the gp was about to send me off for thyroid tests, but did one last one when AF was 3 weeks late and was +

SackAche · 23/11/2005 12:41

PG - This happened to my friend. She had a light period, did a test... -ve. Couple of weeks later she felt odd and did another test.... -ve. Then her next period didn't come at all she did another test which was +ve.

She got a scan a couple of weeks later and she was 14 WEEKS pregnant!!!

Blandmum · 23/11/2005 12:43

happened to a mate. She was 4 months gone before she found out she was pg. None of her periods were missed up to this point.

hunkermunker · 23/11/2005 12:44

Test.

SackAche · 23/11/2005 12:47

Hunker...she has..... twice.... BFN. She got a BFN today.

What tests are you using PG? Go get Boots own brand.... We'll wait here for the result.

Yes test again! I took tests when I was 4 weeks and 6 weeks and both were negative. I also had a period but it was lighter than usual and I had all of your symptoms. Eventually found out I was pregnant at 8 weeks.

hunkermunker · 23/11/2005 12:47

Yes, read that bit after I posted.

Sorry!

CarolinaMoon · 23/11/2005 12:47

isn't that what happened to the woman in the news a couple of months ago - she didn't miss any periods, thought she had a tummy bug, and her eldest daughter ended up delivering the baby on the kitchen floor .

Not saying that will happen to you Pinto . I would test again now.

pinotgrigio · 23/11/2005 13:02

Oh god. Don't say this. I've just got back from the pub after my BFN today. I've been drinking wine, eating unpasteurised cheese and definitely not been taking folic acid.

I've been using a local Aussie brand for my tests. I tried to find a digital one but couldn't. It's too late for any Aussies to be about with local knowledge of tests I think. I'm only up because I waited up after my pub trip to post when everybody was awake.

Sackache - maybe I'll buy another brand. I can't do that until tomorrow lunchtime which will be about midnight your time.

Oh dear. This time last pg I was folic acid'ed up, organically inhaling the right amount of nutrients in a zen position each day and treating my body like the temple it was. AND DP and I are only just talking again after the fall out from my last pg. If we have conceived another baby it's practically an immaculate conception. [Not that I won't be chuffed, but it just seems so unlikely]

You are soooooooooooooooooooooooo pregnant.

Helen38 · 23/11/2005 15:54

I know someone who was having periods and pg symptoms and negative tests at the drs untill they eventually sent her for a scan and she was 26wks!!!!!! tested neg for as long with her second too!!!

SackAche · 23/11/2005 16:01

lol @ Iamblossom!

pinotgrigio · 23/11/2005 20:53

My last pg was so textbook. I feel sick and crampy this morning. AF not due for another two weeks. Bleaugh.

OP posts:
SackAche · 23/11/2005 21:16

PG - that would make you about 6wks pg if you are?? .... so thats about the time morning sickness would kick in.... sorry.... but I agree with Iamblossom.

motherinferior · 23/11/2005 21:19

Either you're up duff or you're ill. Either way I would ahem consult the doc.

My money's on duff

SackAche · 23/11/2005 21:21

PinotGrigio you'll need a new posting name! How about JustTheOneGlassOfPinotGrigio.

pinotgrigio · 23/11/2005 21:58

I suspect you lot are enjoying this a little bit more than me.

Can you imagine the arched eyebrow of my GP if I go along? Still having AF you say? 2 BFPs you say? Group of virtual friends insisted you are pg you say?

OP posts:
SackAche · 23/11/2005 21:59

2 BFP's????? I assume you're joking.... right?

pinotgrigio · 23/11/2005 23:30

Sorry! 2BFNs! All the conjecture would have been a bit unnecessary otherwise!

I had this 2 months ago PG.

I was feeling sick in the morning, it would then subside and then return in the evening.
I also started to get tingling boobs and didn't seem to be having the normal moodiness (don't know if thats good or bad ) I normally having raging PMT but never the sore boobs. AF came as usual too.

I went to the GP who said she was convinced I was pg, sent off a urine sample but said if it came back neg she wanted to do another. Well it was a neg and the gp said to wait 4 weeks to do another test.
Me being me I did some hom tests and they were all neg.

Not trying to put a dampner on it but I felt sooo pregnant and I wasn't. Still don't know what it was but the sickness has gone however when my period is due now I get the tingling boobs. It's like my body has reset itself and decided to do things differently. It's quite strange.

NewBethlehemGirlwithsparkles · 23/11/2005 23:51

Although having said all that. I keep thinking to myself, what if I am and wish I could just go back to the GP so she can send me for a scan to make sure I'm not.

pinotgrigio · 24/11/2005 00:33

Thanks NBGWS. My feelings exactly. It's not a crisis if I'm not - I'm overseas and trying to have fun. The thought of flying back to the UK with DD when pg is not a thrilling one. I need several glasses of wine before I'm prepared to get on a plane with her.

I just want to know either way.

How long were you feeling sick for? D'you think its maybe just hormones (oooh, it's her age they all whisper).

Having forced down a croissant I still feel sick. Maybe I'm thinking about how sick and boob tingly I feel too much and it's becoming self-fulfilling. The mind is a curious thing.

OP posts:
pinotgrigio · 24/11/2005 09:20

OK I felt sick and tingly all day and haven't stopped eating, so I found a digital test on the way home from work.

I'll test again if I still feel sick in the morning.

I'll keep you posted!

When I went to the Gp I'd been feeling sick for 2 weeks up till then and it carried on for another fortnight.

I also felt really tired, which was another reason why I thought I might have been pg. I had no energy at all.

Tbh I think the only way to put your mind at rest is to keep testing. Expensive yes, but it's worth it to put your mind at rest IMO.

Is there any chance you can see a gp whilst your overseas and get them to do the tests for you? I know when I had my dd the urine pg tests took 1 week to come back but when I had it last month it only took 1 day so it wasn't too bad. They can probably rule out any other possibility too.
My gp asked if I had a cold in the last few days or if I had a stomache upset too.

LadyTophamHatt · 24/11/2005 09:32

God...am I really bad to love these threads??

This happened to me a while ago too, only 5 days late though, but I'm never ever late, had symptons etc etc etc all BFN's. I never did find out what caused my late AF, but wish it was a baby

(Colditz, I wondered how it all turned out for you, can't quite believe I missed the BFP result, congratulations)
