Anyone else taking a bit longer than expected TTC No2? And fancy a moan?

We stopped using contraception in November and have been 'actively trying' - I know it's not such a long time and obviously we're incredibly lucky to have our fabulous DS but I still sometimes feel a bit down about it, especially when so many people with babies DS's age are already pregnant or have No 2 already. Anyone else feel the same way and fancy a little whinge?

Hello -

Another who would like to join this thread for the shortest time possible hopefully Wink

My DD is 2.9 and we have been trying on and off since Oct 2009. We got pregnant first time but that ended in MC at 10 weeks.

We were bit shocked at the speed of things and the misery of MC so we decided to wait until Sept 2010 to try again. Got pregnant first time again, sadly that ended in MC in Dec at 11 1/2 weeks. I was later told that the baby had Turner Syndrome.

Roll on to this year and we got another BFP in March but that ended by 5 weeks.

So here I am still waiting for a sticky number two and getting more nervous all the time that it it not going to happen for us. Sad

Good luck to all x

sprinkles77 · 15/06/2011 22:23

So sorry for you who are dealing with mc, recurrent or not. Must be shit having your hopes dashed like that.

ninjachipmunk i'm in the middle of a 2WW. Wanna join me in speculating? So tonight I got a massive urge to eat a tomato. I hate them. And a pickled lemon. And then I spotted something that I thought could have been implantation bleeding. God knows how a bit of wispa ended up in my pants Hmm!

SESthebrave thanks for the tip on the OPK. Have been doing them about 6.30pm while DS in the bath. Will have to take them to work with me.

NinjaChipmunk · 15/06/2011 22:55

Grin at wispa in your pants! what were you doing? i have another week before the 2ww and had first shag of the month last night so a little early for symptom spotting, but maybe by tomorrow night....

and pickled lemons? seriously? in vinegar? that just doesn't seem right!

sprinkles77 · 15/06/2011 23:09

It was a tiny crumb of wispa, which was the very nutritious snack I ate while getting dressed in small cubicle at swimming baths with DS. Obviously there was no other reason for wispa near my nether regions. Even I know that you can't get pregnant like that. Shame though!

Pickled lemons are lovely. They're from a Turkish shop. I think they are in brine rather than vinegar. Very salty and sour. They are quite small (about an inch diameter). Lovely cut up with old rice and left overs rice salad.

def catch up with your symptom spotting....I think if you had your first shag yesterday it's not too early to be looking out.

wideawakenurse · 16/06/2011 12:15

The wispa story made me Smile.

Just come back from a toddler group, lots of women there with their newborns and toddlers today - and lots of questions to me about when I was going to have another one. Just wanted to shout, "I'M TRYING FFS"!!!

I am CD4, feeling positive this month. Have instructed DH that the only feasible way of sorting this out is to do it everyday.

He flinched.

I told him to man up.

lucylookout · 16/06/2011 18:35

I know that feeling nurse. my dh has a habit of saying 'do we have to have sex again tonight'. He could at least pretend to enjoy this unnaturally active sex life, like I do!
I'm in the 2ww, although sorry for sounding so pessimistic, but I've almost ruled out the possibility of this happening naturally, although the drs have told me there's no reason why not, apart from my age obviously. I have a little over a month until my appt at a fertility clinic to maybe embark on assisted conception (depending on their advice) so even though we're still swi, that's what I'm really holding out for.

Imo1 · 16/06/2011 18:45

Thanks Lucy, have a docs app tomorrow for day 28 bloods so will ask about pessaries, wonder if they can give me those without having to wait for fertility specialist...

I'm on the 2ww Ninja - AF due Sunday but as I O so late in my cycle I'm only 7dpo... when are you testing?

izzybizzybuzzybees · 16/06/2011 20:45

Hi,
I'd like to join too please, we've been trying for number 2 since june last year, were using the CBFM as thats what we used last time. I'm on CD11 and still getting lows Smile

izzybizzybuzzybees · 16/06/2011 20:46

oops shoulda been Confused

SESthebrave · 16/06/2011 22:48

izzy - I used CBFM before my mc and often didn't get highs or peaks until at least CD12. Welcome to the thread too!

Imo1 - hope your appointment is ok tomorrow

wideawakenurse - DS's key worker at nursery asked me for the third time in 2 weeks about having DC2 so I just told her outright that DS took 18mo and 2 mc so then she said she was sure it would happen more easily this time so then I told her I'd recently mc. She then apologised and said she'd try to remove her foot from her mouth! She's a lovely girl but I just got frustrated! At least she knows now I guess and hopefully will leave it at that!

Lucy - my DH has been known to exclaim "I'm not a machine!" No but you're a man who would normally be begging for sex. Just because it's being offered on a plate every night, you don't want it!

Ninja - any symptoms yet then?!

Sprinkles - I had a giggle at the Wispa crumb too!

DoitNicely - welcome and let's hope this thread proves a lucky one!

Busy day today for me. Full on at work and then DH away tonight and DS decided to do a wee when sitting on me wrapped up in his towel after his bath - nice! Topped off by a session with my personal trainer. First session since before mc but he went fairly easy on me. Now sitting in bed with the laptop and telly on but must get some sleep soon!

randomimposter · 17/06/2011 08:55

nurse I LOVE your DH story - excellent Grin.

Just to add to the acu info, I started seeing an acu who specialises in fertility after MMC2, and she asked me to NOT TTC for 3 months whilst she got to know my cycle, and when I got the green light I did get a BFP straight away. Although that one was a MMC at 12 weeks too (baby10+1) :(. BUT I do think acu can be very powerful. I talked with her on Tuesay about clomid and in my case she doesn't think it's a wise move. For younger women still with plenty of eggs it can be very effective, but realistically with my reserve it's about treating them better and teasing them out rather than rushing them all through at once... have started taking DHEA, let's see Hmm.

Hope everyone doing ok, am CD10 so must must MUST start thinking about some SWI

lucylookout · 17/06/2011 09:48

I've been interested in DHEA jollster but thought it was prescription only. Did you have your testosterone levels measured? How much are you taking and have you had any side effects? Am a bit worried about growing a 'tache Grin

wideawakenurse · 17/06/2011 10:04

jolster he is on a golfing trip at the moment.

Told him to get ready to perfect his technique for when he gets back - he probably thinks I am talking about his tee'ing off ability.

wideawakenurse · 17/06/2011 10:07

Oh, jollster just seen your comment about being CD 10 and getting ready to SWI.

Do you want the manning up pep talk too? Grin

lucylookout · 17/06/2011 10:16

Jollster sorry if my message sounded rude. Reading back it doesn't sound right. What I meant was I've been really interested in DHEA as I've heard it improves egg quality. I believe it's prescription only and from what I've heard is only suitable to be taken if you have low testosterone. Co-inicidentally, the other day I was going through some blood tests my GP did at the beginning of the year and my testosterone was recorded as low. So now I'm wondering who I should talk to about whether DHEA might be a good thing for me. I'm seeing my GP on Monday so I'll check with her what she thinks. Would be really interested to hear how you came about to take it Smile

thisisstupid · 17/06/2011 11:14

These threads are making me panic a bit im preg with my second due any day now, i have a little boy who is 2 from a previous relationship who i only get to see on weekends and really want three children with my new partner we were going to wait about 5 years after this baby before we had another but that would make me 31/32 and even though we've said we will leave it to the fates and if it doesn't happen then adopt i'm worried that i wouldn't be satisfied with that and that i'd become obsessed with ttc so i'm wondering now whether to just get it all done before i turn 30, how old is everyone ttc would 32 be leaving it too late?

sprinkles77 · 17/06/2011 11:23

32 is not necessarily too late! I'm 33 and ttc %232, and I'm sure there are lots on this thread who r older.
On the subject of symptom spotting..... Nothing really today. Actually have been very hungry. But that could be pms. Must check pants for stray chocolate!

randomimposter · 17/06/2011 13:14

nurse, yeah I could do with it!

lucy, I haven't had my levels checked, but when I had my recurrent MC tests done at the fertility clinic (all came back clear), the consultant I saw mentioned it to me as she had several over 40 patients who had used it and seen good outcomes (linked? who knows?). She recommended biovea.net, and a 75mg/day dosage. I didn't do anything about it for 5 months as sort of assumed I would get pg again quite quickly, and have finally got round to it as a ohfuckitlet'stryit idea. I'm actually prone to hairiness anyway, so it doesn't freak me out too much ... will keep you posted on how gorilla like I become. Your message wasn't rude btw :).

sprinkles77 · 17/06/2011 14:14

just read my post. doh! TTC number 2 (not 232...can you imagine Shock)?!

Imo1 · 17/06/2011 18:36

Hi all

Appointment went ok. Progesterone at day 21 was only 2 but I know I O late so not surprised. Doc said possibly that I'm not ovulating but I have very regular 28-30 day cycles so expect today's blood test (cd28) will be higher. Anyway hope this months acupuncture and B Complex will help.

Thisisstupid - I'm 35 and ttc number 2. I was 32 when I had DS so I don't think you need to worry.

Fingers cross for everyone

lucylookout · 19/06/2011 18:49

When will you get the day 28 blood test results Imo1? Did the dr said how/if they could help if your progesterone is low?

Jollster, did you get the 7-keto DHEA or just regular? I've been reading more about it over the last couple of days and am swaying towards trying it (am going to check with my dr tomorrow).

Hi everyone else [waves], hope you've all had a good weekend Smile

sprinkles77 · 20/06/2011 10:02

AF came yesterday. Sad Ordered CBFM off amazon, hope it comes in time to use it this month....

Imo1 · 20/06/2011 10:33

I'm sorry AF got you Sprinkles, hope you are feeling ok.

Lucy I should get the test back by Wednesday, I've already been refered to the consultant because of the low day 21 tests so I'll wait for him to tell me the options as the GPs we as useful as a chocolate firegaurd... everything is 'the average woman' who obvioulsy ovulates on day 14 guaranteed.... They tried to tell me I wasn't ovulating and that my cycles were erratic.. until I showed them my last 10 months of charting.. oh well, I could rant all day...

CD31 today and terrified to move in case AF suddenly arrives - average cycle is 29 days so not sure if this is down to acupuncture and B complex or something altogether more exciting!
