Lots of 'high' but no 'peak' on Clearblue Fertility Monitor

Has anyone been using the CB fertility monitor? This is our first month of using it and I got a high reading on Monday and thought, woo hoo, it'll be peak in a few days and we're off. But it's still showing high today. I've definitely not missed a day or done it wrong.

What could it mean? I'm panicking now that because I'm 39 it means I'm not ovulating any more.

Any experience of this anyone?

Hi ElmMum

We have a thread for CBFM, I am just starting my 4th cycle with the CBFM and on my first month I had about 16 highs, no peaks and a couple of lows. Then similar the 2nd month, then last month bam got my peaks.

Have you been using other LH detection strips or charting or anything else?

My advice is stick with it, it has taken a lot of stress out of monitoring my cycle.

Thanks! Do you think when you just have highs and no peaks, it actually means you're not ovulating or something else?

I haven't used anything else yet. I had a MC in February last year and stopped trying for a while for various reasons. Started trying again this January, so have had 3 cycles with no luck. Thought I'd use CBFM to see what was happening but now I'm worrying that I'm not ovulating...

What are the other LH detection strips?

Hi sorry for not replying sooner, been off line over weekend.

You can get some cheap ovulation predictor kits from amazon, a few quid for a whole bag full - good as a back up whilst waiting for the CBFM to work you out. They only detect LH though, whereas the CBFM detects oestrogen and LH.

I would suggest that if you never pick up a surge it would be worth going to doctors for blood tests to see if you but just not picking it up.

Good luck!

Thanks for that. Really appreciate it. Today I got a peak on CBFM so am feeling very pleased and trying to keep expectations in check... this doesn't mean I will definitely get pregnant! Thanks again x

ElmMum it takes the monitor a little while to work out what your normal levels are for each phase, if you don't get pg this time around, then next month you may see fewer HIGHs before the PEAK comes.

SlightlyBabyCrazed · 28/03/2011 15:09

ElmMum - that's really good to get a peak in the first month of using - a very positive sign I would say.

Good Luck - feel free to join us in the clear blue fertility monitor buddies vol 5 thread!

Hi ElmMum, someone on another thread told me she knows of someone who has fallen pregnant when not reaching 'peak'. The booklet does say you can fall pregnant during 'high' times just not as likely.
