Can you conceive on day 17 of a 30 day cycle?

Dh works away at the monment and was home from day 17 to day 20. How likely is it to conceive at this time?

i have a 32 day cycle and conceived on day 20.....

probably not but who knows when nature is involved. if you have intercourse before the fertile date that can work as the sperm can live up to 5 days in you but once the egg is released it only has 24 hours till it dies then its a case of wait til next month.

but if you dont knwo when you ovulate, you dont knwo when you can conceive....

I have no idea when I ovulate - not actually TTC, but wondering if it may have happened anyway.

I think iti is about 12 days.........but they usually say 14 at least.....
dont know who 'they' are though.....

I think you can do a test around 14 days after you have BD ? although the most accurate reading would be at least a couple of days after AF is due ?

I think it can vary enormously from person to person, and pretty much anything is possible. i conceived dd3 (accidentally) on day 4

it is possible just depends when exactly you ovulate as other people do it at various times in cycle not necessarily the 14 days before period due bit.

I was due AF either yesterday, or tomorrow. I thought I started last AF on the 22nd Sept, but on calendar I've circled 20th. So either I misremebered, or circled wrong date. I think I remember AF coming on a Tuesday, making the 20th right. If it was hte 22nd dh was home from day 15-18.

I did a test on wednesday, but it was negative. But it might have been too early to show postive. So I will just wait for AF to come, and if not, I will teat in a couple of days.

yes you can. working backwards, your luteal phase needs to be 12 (or arguably 13) days long for successful implantation, so if an egg was fertilised on day 17 it would be possible. You would have to have ovulated on day 17 or 16 though, since I dont think the egg is available for fertilisation much longer than a day after ovulation.

so... given serendipity of events, you could be pg!

Oh well AF arrived last night, so all this pondering for nothing!

I am a bit disappointed (but would probably be panicking if I was PG!). I think I will start persuading dh that a third is a good idea anyway
