Hi i'm new to this board am just a bit lost with it all and reading some of the other threads have helped me so thought would see if anyone is in the same boat as me, I had a miscarriage mid jan and still no period, I have done tests which have been negative. I know cycle can take a while to come back after miscarriage but just "feel different" has anyone conceived straight after a miscarriage and how long before a positive test. Thanks

Hi Shorty, So sorry to hear about your loss. Sad

You've probably already seen from some of the threads that it can take a while for your cycle to reappear after a m/c. This website offers some helpful advice, sorry if you've already found it.

www.pregnancyloss.info/waitingforaf.htm

I miscarried in January too, and have only just started my next period. However I also know people here who have got a BFP before the first cycle.

Hope this helps.

Thanks BlackKat that really helps, just feel a bit stuck at the moment, just don't know where I stand, I am going through it on my own too as my dh has now come to terms with the loss and wants to distance himself from the thought that I am pregnant again as doesn't want to get attached again, wish it was that easy for me. :-( thank you for the links I will take a look. If you want to chat, do pop across to that thread, I'd've gone mad over the last six weeks without it. x

I'm sorry about your miscarriage. I have mc and then conceived the following month twice (both DC in fact). But look, the tests really are very reliable. I'm sorry but you probably just have really screwed up hormone levels from the miscarriage and it'll take a few months to get yourself back on an even keel.

Be confident though, you got pregnant before, chances are you will again and with a positive outcome. :)

shorty100 · 03/03/2011 21:40

Thanks my hormone levels when back to negative in just 4 days, still very emotional though. I had a miscarriage before my ds and had one period in between but it took me nearly a year to conceive when I had the miscarriage. Thanks for all your support.

I'm so sorry, it's somehow worse when you have had a child to miscarry because you know what the outcome can be from experience :(

Is there any reason you think it's taking you a while to conceive? I'm sure the ladies on the MC thread can help you better than me. :) But one year is not too bad really, depending on lots of factors. And it doesn't mean it'll take you another year to conceive. Just keep on going, plough through all the emotional stuff and it will come right. :)

I have had a few problems since I have had my son but after nearly 3 years of hospital appointments still no closer to knowing whats happening, the lining of my cervix is softer than it should be so can come away and cause me to bleed, not sure if this would make it harder to get pregnant as can never get a straight answer from hospital, will keep trying its all I can do. Could you find £150 for a private consultation with a fertility specialist? If you've had all those tests you can get the results sent to him or her and get your straight answer.

Blackkat · 03/03/2011 22:04

Hi whomoved, hope you are ok?

shorty that sounds like good advice.

whomovedmychocolate · 03/03/2011 22:06

:)

shorty100 · 03/03/2011 22:10

Unfortunately no chance at the moment of going private, they just seem to keep telling me the same thing at every appointment. Have an appointment in may and if not conceived I can have the key hole camera thing, forgot the name.

So sorry about your mc. :(
Yes i did concieve straight after mcing with no period. It went well and I now have a 19 week old healthy baby girl. :)

shorty100 · 03/03/2011 22:17

Can you remember whether it took long for a positive test after the mc, I know must seem like a long time ago. Really glad you got your dd, gives me some hope. X

Hope you're ok Shorty.

I had two mc a year apart ( with a depressing year of feeling down and ttc in between). Got pregnant 2 weeks after mc2 and all went fine, despite feeling very anxious until being handed a live baby at the end!

Looking back I was really traumatised by mc1. Make sure you talk about it and get the support you need.

Take care, I hope everything works out for you.

shorty100 · 03/03/2011 22:31

Not sure how to cope with it at the moment, thats why thought I would try here. I previously had councilling after my first mc but didn't really help. Have 6 friends who are pregnant at work so every day is hard at the moment and my normally supportive dh doesn't understand. X

Thanks for all your messages, feels really nice to speak to people that understand. X

Shorty, sorry it took me so long to reply. It was about 1 week after period was due. We were'nt ttc properly so didnt expect it. :)

shorty100 · 04/03/2011 12:59

Just don't know when to expect period as normal cycle is 30 days and I am currently on 44 days. I'm so bad at being patient. :-)

TysonNobdie86 · 04/03/2011 18:28

shorty100 · 04/03/2011 18:44
