Pregnancy symptoms and not pregnant - what can cause this?

Hi all, just wondered if I could get some advice as am starting to worry. Have been TTC for nearly a year with no success. Already have one dc who was conceived very easily so am a but concerned that something's gone wrong.

In a couple of cycles, though, I have experienced lots of pregnancy symptoms - sore boobs, nausea, dark nipples, etc etc, and AF has been late (normally v regular) but I've not been PG. AF is a day late today and I've just had a BFN on a Sainsburys test which I've read are very accurate so think I'm out, but I have the sore, swollen boobs etc.

The cycles when I have no symptoms, AF is always on time, it's when I start getting symptoms from 8 dpo on that it's late - which obviously just adds to my frustration.

Does anyone have any idea what could be going on? Is there some sort of hormone imbalance that can cause this?

Any advice v gratefully received.

Ps I know when I ov'd as used opks this month - that makes me 14 dpo today. Wondering about PCOS but think this would cause late AF every month?

Hi Emma and Kay, thanks for replying. I went to my GP today and he basically told me to stop worrying, hormones change all the time. I guess he's right. I think I may have had PCOS for ages though it never stopped me conceiving before - I think if I keep my weight down it's under control. GP advised me to stop stressing and checking dates so am going to try to stop thinking about getting pregnant and try and distract myself with fun stuff I couldn't do if I was pregnant!
