3 faint positive tests, now it looks like I'm coming on

Hi all, can you help.

I was due to come on on Monday/tuesday this week, but didn't. The first test I did on Tuesday showed a definite, but faint, positive line. I did another two on Wednesday and again, faint positives.

When I was pregnant last time I did a test at about the same time and there was no mistaking the line.

Anyway I went to the doctors today, she looked at the tests, the fact that I'm usually very regular and said that I'm pregnant. Had a couple of hours of feeling great, and in the past few days we had got our heads round it.

But this evening I've had some spotting which is exactly what happens when I'm about to come on.

I'm gutted - why am I SO late when I never normally am? And why the positive tests? Did it just not hang on?

Sorry for asking what are probably stupid questions. Any help appreciated.

well, it's probably not possible to tell yet - sometimes there can be implantation bleeding with pregnancy, but you may also have had a chemical pregnancy, which is a pregnancy which doesn't implant properly and ends after only a few days: it will be like a normal period if this is the case.

Just wish I could chill out about the whole trying-for-a-baby thing, but that doesn't seem to be the way I do things.

I had a similar experience in October, positive test 2 days before af, repeat tests were neg including one at the drs then I came on 2 days late with a vengeance. I don't know if it was a chemical preg or a faulty test and then anxiety but there is hope bcos I was properly preg by dec (altho I'm not now but it stuck for 8 weeks so I'm not connecting the 2 events).
