I just need to let off steam as the registrar gynae I saw this weeks was adamant.

Therefore (he said this) if you have a regular length cycle you can pinpoint exactly when you ovulate.

mine is ALWAYS 13 days! he's wrong, lol

Ariesgirl · 19/01/2011 21:54

How that they be in the position they are if they are so adamant they know something they don't? And refuse to believe any evidence to the contrary? How many couples are being failed in their treatment because of this wrong headed opinion?

activate · 19/01/2011 21:58

he is wrong!

did you point out he was wrong?

what a twat

SlightlyTubbyHali · 19/01/2011 21:58

These will have been to the same medical school as the doctor I once met:

Her: If you had a bleed when your period was due, how did you know to test?

Me: I chart my temps and they were high so I thought I might be pregnant.

Her: oh. You shouldn't chart your temps you know.

Me: why not?

Her: because it won't tell you when you're going to ovulate.

Me: I know that, but it does tell me other things.

Her: no it doesn't.

Me (muttering): except when your "period" is really an ectopic pregnancy...

Brilliant.

activate · 19/01/2011 22:00

as a gynae he should be aware of luteal phase defects and the concept of statistical averages

twat

CarGirl · 19/01/2011 22:01

So if you only have sex once in a cycle and you def could only get pregnant then and this was 24 days from LMP (and 5-6 cycle is pretty normal for you) then how would his theory work?

OracleInaCoracle · 19/01/2011 22:03

honestly, they frustrate me so much. Ive never met a cons who didnt have a god complex yet. Ive gone in with reams of evidence supporting immunology issues in RMC, told to go on holiday. went on holiday, skint, no baby.

fuckers.

kat2504 · 19/01/2011 22:04

Mine is always 13 days. So there. I use the cbfm so I am assuming I ovulate on the second peak day. This also ties in with other fertility signs.
14 days might be average and most women are within a day either way, but to say it is always 14 days for all women without exception is nonsense.

Bellagio · 19/01/2011 22:05

Without giving away what I do for a living I can categorically confirm that is wrong. MOST luteal phases are 14 days, def not ALL.

Jackie75 · 19/01/2011 22:10

It defies belief! Mine is 10 days long and your gynae registrar can scan me on day 16 which will show him I am about to ovulate and then 10 days later boom AF will come. It's a bit like a gynae consultant telling me to have lots of sex from day of ovulation to period....yes a gynae consultant!!!!

broccolitrees · 20/01/2011 09:39

twerp.

owlbooty · 20/01/2011 10:05

Next time you see the poor simpleton, print this out and take it with you Grin

What a f&$kwit.

SomeonePasstheChocolate · 20/01/2011 16:24

I won't be seeing him again becauses I'm over 40 and have a child (IVF) he told me I'm not entitled to further help. I know I'm not able to get IVF / IUI etc, I went for investigations/help for a recent miscarriage at 7weeks and a number of chemical pgs (I was after some progesterone)

I'm toying with buying over the net. I find that a bit scary though.
