TTC while breastfeeding - Part 2

This is the place to come to share the frustrations of ttc while still nursing.

Many of us are sleep-deprived, some of us don't even know if we're ovulating and none of us know whether taking agnus castus is a good idea or not. We all just want to do the best by the children we already have, but would really like to be pregnant again. Quickly.

Part 1 had plenty of graduates . Here's hoping Part 2 will be equally successful and supportive!

Sooo am getting nearer to cracking testing wise.... because I've realised I don't have my awful hormone riddled skin I normally have just before a period. Almost bought a kit in the supermarket today but the aisle was blocked by two old ladies stood right infront of the pregnancy tests having a very involved longwinded gossip. I did the rest of the shop and came back and they were still there so I skulked off empty handed. I'll buy one tomorrow I think and test on Sunday. I should confess, just to keep my cynical side on balance, that I am currently quaffing a small glass of red.
Good luck all!

IslandIsla · 16/03/2011 08:23

poppet... I'm dying to know!! Test!!! Grin

Yank, good luck for your surgery. A month out is neither here nor there in the big scheme of things... but I imagine your body will delay ov whilst you have other things going on. I hope it goes well.

marthamay · 16/03/2011 08:42

I think I'm going to crack today too....14dpo and 2 days of feeling pretty quesy....can't help myself....going to chemist now!

marthamay · 16/03/2011 09:33

Ok...I cracked...
I even got all superstitious and went to my old chemist were I had bought HPT for my 1st preg! We've moved house since then but I drove the extra 10 minutes - I'm a bit mental I think.

Well....I have a faint line!!!!!!!!!! Not super strong but DEFINITELY there!!!!!!! BFP?????

What do I do now!?????? With DS#1 I had a really strong line but only tested a week after missed period - now I am just on day 1 of missed period.
If I'm preg, will the line get stronger each day?????

Do I test every day? Do I wait a week and see if AF turns up? Do I consider myself up the duff?!!!!!Do I tell DH or wait till it
s a little stronger?
Grin feeling very, very excited.

Now you poppet, fingers x'd.

Now for a strong cup of decaf tea.
Wish me luck peeps!

QueenFee · 16/03/2011 10:13

Oh how exciting! Yay!
My 1st tests were all faint and got darker.
I told dh but he didn't believe me till the test was dark

marthamay · 16/03/2011 10:59

Thanks QF! Now here's hoping AF arrives for you!

Well, is def a line. Not a DARK line, but very clear and very pink. Brand was 'Suresign' which I've never heard of or used so I'm not sure how sensitive they are supposed to be.

Walked over to the library where DH is working with test in a shopping bag to show him. Thankfully he was in a little office room so didn't have to get the pee-stick out in public! Line is very obvious!
I think he is feeling slightly overwhelmed but very happy...started talking about all the nappies we were going to be changing and how we were going to get half as much sleep again...but with a big grin on his face!

Although I am very excited, I know how common it is to have a chemical pregnancy so I think I will only truly get excited in a week or so when AF still hasn't come and after a couple more hpts.

Now, have a study deadline this monday and really really need to get off the internet and try and work but I am now distracted beyond measure....aaaaaaahhhhh
honestly - don't really care about my studies anymore!

I've got one more test in the pack. I'm going to save it for tomorrow first pee of the day. Hope it's consistent.

Now try try try to focus on some work.grrrrrrrr.

jaggythistle · 16/03/2011 12:01

Aww Marthamay, brought a wee tear to my eye there reading about you telling your DH.

i am a bit tired and emotional today and did also well up on hearing a radio story with a baby being born. Blush i was up more than i slept last night i think, as DS has a nasty cold and kept waking up in a panic.

fingers crossed it's a nice reassuring dark line tomorrow. :)

Poppet45 · 16/03/2011 13:18

Oh marthamay that's the most amazing news!!! Congratulations!!! My tests started out very faint with DS and got darker so try not to worry too much.... and if I still lived in the country I think I too would nip over to my original chemist for a test this month, am getting very superstitious too. I'm buying a double test but think I'll still try to hold off using it til Sunday.... the longer I wait the more I can daydream about it rather than getting a BFN and finding out my cycle's just totally off kilter because of BFing.

IslandIsla · 16/03/2011 17:31

congrats martha a line is a line - you're preg! I remember testing at 5 weeks with DD and it being a pretty faint line. Was it early morning? You might find a darker line first thing. Sticky vibes! how old is your DS now?

good luck poppet!!

Poppet45 · 16/03/2011 20:38

So I've bought the test :S . I also noticed some slightly pinkish mucus when I last went to the loo, so I'm not going to test til Sunday - that way if my period does arrive first I won't be gutted.
It's such a long time to wait though sits on hands

marthamay · 16/03/2011 21:40

Aw, thanks for all the good wishes people, will let you know if tomorrow's test is also a BPF!
Augh poppet don't know how you can do it. Of course I think you are very, very sensible to wait and you are completely right. I send you big strong 'don't POAS' vibes! Keep sitting on those hands. The pink mucus could be a little bit of old implantation blood making it's way out?
It's just impossible not to symptom spot though isn't it.
For me, this is my third evening of nausea. I have also felt very bloated and gassy (sorry!) and funny pains across my lower tummy. I mean, I know the symptoms are pretty similar to AF ones but somehow does feel different, especially evening nausea.

Island So glad other's have had faint lines that have become little babies. I really hope this bean sticks. If it doesn't for any reason I will take heart in the fact that it actually HAPPENED, meaning my body is finally in the right place to make a baby.
MY DS is 10.5 months now. If my +ive holds then I'll be due in November when he is about 19 months. Perfect for me. I am so excited.

jaggy - was a lovely moment with DH. I well up over things all the time and expect my tearducts to go into overdrive over the next few months too!

Thanks again everyone and best of luck to poppet. Smile

marthamay · 17/03/2011 09:56

stronger BFP with 5:30am wee.........

Now please, please, please can I stop browsing preg forums and get on with my work Blush

Poppet45 · 17/03/2011 14:23

Okay speaking of obsessive symptom spotting, my 'burps' have arrived. I never got morning sickness with DS (and very grateful for that I was too) but I belched like Barney Gumble for weeks, and weeks and weeks... and I've started doing it today. I think I'm edging towards feeling I'll be more surprised if it's a bfn than a bfp. Oh blimey. I've been reading up about the side effects of fluconazole on a pregnancy and am feeling a little reassured as the deformities it's been linked to were only at double the dose I was on and for long courses of treatment and even then the risk was about 4 per cent. But still don't know how DH will react Confused - although in my defence he was very much present and conscious at the time this may have happened so it's not just my 'fault'.
Urgh another burp. Nice.

silkenladder · 17/03/2011 17:14

Yay, congrats martha and hopefully soon poppet too. Grin

Hope everyone else is hanging in there.

I'm on CD1 yet again after a 17 day cycle. Wake up times are all over the place atm so I haven't been temping, but had masses of cm last Fri, so if I ov'd then my luteal phase was 4-ish days Sad

OP posts:
marthamay · 17/03/2011 20:47

Oh sorry silkenladder - I didn't even ovulate in my previous month so a lot can change very quickly. Wish you luck for this cycle. I'm sure it gets more and more likely each time.

poppet hilarious that you have turned into a burp monster! Not much fun though I imagine.
I'm sorry I don't know much about fluconazole....what were you taking it for again? I'm SURE it will be fine though and of course it's not your 'fault'.
Please keep us posted - it's getting closer and closer to POAS time for you! My fingers remain x'd.

Still hanging in there for me. More nausea, stretchy crampy pains in my abdomen and also a feeling a bit like a stitch in my left side. Hope it's all good.

silkenladder · 18/03/2011 12:21

Thanks, martha, that gives me a bit of hope.

poppet when did you finish taking the fluconazole? Presumably it can't affect the bean until it implants and doesn't that happen 6-10 dpo? I'm sure there's nothing to worry about (but I know from my broken mercury thermometer experience just how much these things can make you worry Sad).

OP posts:
Poppet45 · 18/03/2011 14:34

Thanks Silken, well I took the two high doses of 150-200mg way before the egg would have implanted followed by a week course of 50mg (a dose they will consider giving to pregnant women) so was feeling a bit reassured, but frankly who knows.
It's been a bit of a rollercoaster 24 hours tbh, so I snapped took a test yesterday and yup it was positive. I knew those burps were the clincher. However as of this morning I'm losing more brown/pink mucousy blood and can't decide if the heavy feeling is becoming a bit crampy as well. DH took last night's news fairly well, other than wishing we could have had a few months rekindling our relationship as 20 year olds before we conceived, or as he put it, he wanted to have some fun, and with me continously asking him how he felt about it - he rather forgot to ask me how I was feeling. He also rather forgot to ask how I was feeling about the bleeding too, just said we'll have to wait and see. It's like living with Rainman sometimes.
So all in all I feel in limbo, I'm queasy (so i think girl already as never got queasy with DS) but with the blood, aches and lack of a feeling of a connection to any bean (I had it instantly with DS) I wonder if it's just not meant to be.

marthamay · 18/03/2011 14:45

Hi Poppet - firstly that's FANTASTIC news that you got a BFP!!!! Congratulations. From the sounds of it you are not feeling that great though. Your hormones are probably all over the place with all the hcg in your system so don't take it to heart and maybe you are not letting yourself feel any connection to your bean just yet because of the blood in your cm, the one-sided conversation with your Dh, heavy feeling etc. I imagine that if it's a sticky one, in a couple of weeks you'll be flooded with that feeling of connection. Who knew babies could be different right from day 1 hey.
I don't think the browny blood should worry you (easier to say I know). Hang in there, test again tomorrow if you really need to. Give yourself some space to feel happy too. I said to my Dh that even if for me it turns out to be a chemical preg I was at least reassured by the ability to conceive. It's true.
You will feel so much better in a week or so!

I woke up with no symptoms this morning and felt immediately paranoid. Also kind of pinky, orange, creamy CM (sorry!). Snuck down to the shop sheepishly to purchase another twin pack of hpt. I'm a sucker. But line is now twice as strong! I am also feeling very heavy and crampy - just like AF is imminent but that could just be things shifting around down there I guess.

Poppet, please feel better soon you got a BFP!!!! what's your EDD then???? YAY! Grin
xxxxx

Poppet45 · 18/03/2011 15:44

Not that I've checked or anything Grin but I think its November 20th. Is that scorpio or saggitarius (shallow emoticon) According to my LMP it would be November 14 but I know I ovulated at day 20 not day 14.
I was feeling so preggers this morning but just not sure right now. Tbf, when the doc told me I wasn't pregnant with DS after I got a positive at home I temporarily lost the inner dialogue I had with him too. Maybe it's just stress/worry. I know what you mean about a chemical preg being reassuring too. Do you think if I tested on Sunday it would give the hormones enough time one way or another for it to give an accurate positive or negative?
Wishing you lots of luck too, when's your EDD?

QueenFee · 18/03/2011 22:00

Ooh another bfp how exciting congrats poppet!
I am af symptom spotting now as I have developed a pain in my hip which is left over from spd but I only normally get it when i'm due on (or pregnant!!!) So fingers crossed

Hi to any lurkers! Go on out yourself Grin

Poppet45 · 19/03/2011 19:27

Well I think we're 20 DPO and the wee bean is still clinging on. Much less nausea and fewer burps though. There was no bleeding today but some's started this evening. Nothing to even colour a pad, just visible when you wipe - sorry for tmi Grin
I was just wondering if the closest moon for 20 years tonight might be influencing our cycles, or is that too lentil weavery? Anyway good luck to all.

marthamay · 19/03/2011 20:56

Yay poppet! Sticky bean here too. I'm quite excited about the 'supermoon' and was trying to think how it would influence us...what do you reckon?
The bleeding doesn't sound at all bad.
Legs grossed and hoping!
Have a lovely weekend people, enjoy the weather.

marthamay · 19/03/2011 20:56

sorry...legs crossed, not grossed!

Poppet45 · 20/03/2011 12:08

Oh I dunno they need a shave Grin

IslandIsla · 20/03/2011 14:19

glad its all going well martha and poppet I hope your bean is getting glued in there Smile. My friend who was TTC tested yesterday at 11dpo and got a BFP, so there is definitely something in the air at the moment!!

Its DD's 2nd birthday today.... wow, here I am at 2 years, breastfeeding and TTC... never thought that would happen!
