I have become a ridiculous tester in the last couple of months. opk, hpt, ridiculously early tests, finding a range of receptacles which i can get away with, even purchased a perimenopause test (I'm 32) because you could P on it. And it's one where you expect bfn!
Have hidden an empty deodorant lid in bathroom cabinet as new receptacle of choice.

Join me if you are in the 2ww or are a compulsive tester who needs a good fishslap to stay away from the hpts! I failed at the JS thread as I violated almost every rule!

Katy what a pain! not surprised you are cross, better luck tomorrow

wombat I keep hearing the radio ad for the first response. I have had to stop myself going anywhere near boots. Pretty much know that is will stay bfn this month and if I buy them i will NOT be able to keep them for a whole four weeks.

Have come to hang head in shame.... Poas at 4dpo.... Am sad and obessive.

Do not understand where my sudden poas obession has sprung from. In less than 4 weeks I have become unable to stop myself from it.

Please give me a good fishslap and tell me to step away from the hpts.

KatyCustard · 30/09/2010 20:59

Well, I phoned the doctors, no results. So I got a bit annoyed, not with the receptionist but with hospital, and she promised to phone. So she phoned me back within half an hour, which was very nice of her, to tell me she had the results and that the doctor would phone me tomorrow afternoon to tell what they were! I asked if she could just read them to me but she said "ooh sorry my dear they're all double dutch to me!" So I STILL don't know!
Although, I do really, because on cycle day 46, having not SWI since 31st August, and with negative HTPS I know I'm not pregnant. But till he phones with the result...

Skandi - you fish slap me, and I'll fish slap you. SLAP!Wink

skandi1 · 01/10/2010 12:50

Hi Katy,

Fishslap recieved - ouch. Not poas today - yet.... Am trying to cling onto the fact that it would be pointless as its not morning wee....

Fingers crossed for good news for you today.

xx

skandi1 · 01/10/2010 14:13

Blush Blush Blush

I poas'd again! Totally pointless on dpo5 and middle of day wee! I know i know, step away from the tests!

interesting little science experiement tho. My superdrug cheapie, had no lines at all!

There was the correct amount of wee on it and I could see it soaking up on the paper inside the windows on the stick but no colour at all. So my guess is that there was no dye in that stick then.

Serves me right! And no I am NOT going back to superdrug to ask for money back or replacement.

Am going to slink off all embarrassed and furtively make more poas purchases....

broodywantcoilout · 02/10/2010 15:41

katycustard how did ur phone call go?!?!? sending hugs.
skandi1 i just know im not pregnant, dont know where i am in cycle with last af only lasting 2 days instead of the usual 7-followed by many negatvie tests!!! but...i feel i just have 2 test 2nite after going several days without!!!-i really should apply 4 poas jobs-they must b out there! id make a fortune! haha

skandi1 · 02/10/2010 18:48

Ha ha Broody, I could be your research assistant!!!

I'm sorry to hear you don't know where abouts you are with your cycle. Very annoying.

I'm just a sad case as I do know where I am with my cycle and should not be testing until next weekend (well Friday earliest...).

Was out this afternoon with DH and DD, passed superdrug and really really wanted to go in and buy more test. But resisted as DH would have fallen about laughing at me.

Will have to wait till Monday with DH goes back to work. At least DD is still too young to tell tales on me Smile

And this is how sad I am: I don't want to do the digital ones. I like the ones with dye and lines so you can see if anything comes up and squint at it. I should be ashamed of myself really.

I hope my sorry poas admissions are keeping the rest of you well away from the hpts.

broodywantcoilout · 02/10/2010 19:05

nope, i poas-and am not pregnant!hha knew it!
time 4 x-factor now the kids r in bed!!

skandi1 · 02/10/2010 21:48

Broody, I too have poas'd although its very unlikely that I am pregnant. Its hard to help it though.

I must find other hobby.....

Next month I will be better.

baby2b · 02/10/2010 22:31

Hey Kat, just wanted to reassure you that most of us "justshaggers" love poas...ramekin from choc m&s pudding is my pee tub of choice GrinGrin

KatyCustard · 03/10/2010 17:40

The doctor phoned and said they found less than 1mlu (or whatever it's measured in) of hCG so I have now not only seen it with my own eyes but heard it with my own ears -
so, cycle day 50ish (losing count now!) and I'm very annoyed!

Should I just start charting? Or wait for my next AF?

skandi1 · 03/10/2010 20:23

Ah Katy, sorry to hear that. Not sure what you should do tbh. Perhaps wait for af?

Although I read somewhere that you can ovulate then not have a period and ovulate again so perhaps charting while you wait for af should cover all basis.

Been a good girl and stayed away from the hpts. Mainly because I am pretty sure I'm not pregnant.

No doubt I will struggle as the week goes on.

Fingers crossed for everyone else

kat2504 · 04/10/2010 06:22

Katy can't the docs give you plls to kick start your period?
3poas over the weekend, all negative, period now five days late. Wish it would hurry up then I can put the hpts away and get the opk out!

OP posts:
skandi1 · 04/10/2010 20:20

Argh. More completely pointless poas here!!!

In the middle of afternoon 8dpo. Why why why can't I hold out???

I start off well (hence no POAS first thing) and its all downhill from there.

The downfall was trip to Boots today - special 2:1 offer on FR. Couldn't resist and then had to "use" one.

Its worse than crack - honestly.

Fishslap for me.

kat2504 · 04/10/2010 20:36

skandi skandi oh dear 8dpo eh? (ok so I did the same but in my defense I had two sort of positive opks so didn't know what to go for)
FR are pricey. Have you got ultra earlies off the internet? My policy is to test as much as I like after 9dpo with cheapies then wait for a positive before I use a "real" test such as FR or Clearblue to confirm it. Less guilt.
But no fishslap because I am very familiar with the temptation!
I have cheapie tested a lot in the past week. All bfn. Please can I have my AF now? I am looking forward to the opk testing and will be missing poas for the next week or two!

OP posts:
skandi1 · 04/10/2010 22:26

Kat
am awaiting my ultra earlies delivery (be busy poas that day!).

sorry you were bfn.

am going to trawl web for things you can poas whilst you are at the beginning of cycle (to liven things up a bit).

can you use okps to test for pregnancy?? read on FR that it detects hgc, lutensing hormones and something else. perhaps i may try that tomorrow...

kat2504 · 04/10/2010 22:29

You can but a hpt would give you a result earlier apparently. so no point using opk, really, unless that's all you have!

OP posts:
skandi1 · 04/10/2010 22:31

hcg even - oh dear!

kat2504 · 04/10/2010 22:34

apparently hcg and lh are very similar chemically. But HCG tests only detect HCG. An LH test will apparently pick up either. Remember a positive LH test has to be darker than the control line, unlike a preg test where any line counts.

OP posts:
skandi1 · 04/10/2010 22:42

squinting for lines is half the fun!

interesting. not sure which stick to pee on next...

need distraction....
