First month of TTC and my cycle goes all to pot

Hello All, I mooch around these boards a lot but rarely post. I just want to have a little rant about the Law of Sod, so I apologise in advance.

Earlier in the year DH and I decided we would start to TTC in June so that I will qualify for contractual maternity pay. I came off the pill in April as I was on the pill for years and never had periods so I was expecting it to take a while for everything to settle down.

However on CD14 of my first cycle I ovulated (had pain) and my period arrived 14 days later. Second cycle, ovulated CD15 and got my period 14 days later. This cycle, the one when we are TTC for the first time, I have no idea if or when I ovulated and I'm on CD33 now without any sign of period! I have also have had loads of preganancy symptoms but I get those from time to time anyway because I have ME and annoyingly that's how it affects me. I have tested today and it was BFN. How does that work?! Talk about Sod's Law.

Anyway, sorry for the long rambling ranty post, I just needed to get it off my chest.

I feel for you, I have just come off the pill - literally, 2 days ago after using it to control endometriosis for years. Normally, if I am so much as late with a pill I get bleeding. This time, nothing. 2 days of nothing.

I am now paranoid that I have hit the menopause and won't have any periods at all! Totaly mad, but it gets to you, I think, because you really want it and then it doesn't happen...which is probably why it doesn't happen because the more you concentrate on something the greater an issue it becomes.

Hopefully we will both settle down into a sensible routine

Hi Zanzicat.

I'm having similar frustrations. Haven't convinced DH that now is the time to start TTC, but came off pill in Feb as I'd heard it could take ages for periods to return, especially as I'd been on it since I was 16. All went well, regular cycles. Now I've started BBT charting (just to get a feel for it) and my cycle's gone completely to pot! 33 days last month. Now on CD32 and don't feel remotely "periody" so it's not on its way yet.

Wretched thing. At least it's not as horrendously painful as it was when I was a teen. I couldn't function for about 4 days a month then.

Hope it all settles down - fingers crossed for a BFP for you

Thanks guys. I'm trying to be relaxed about the whole baby making thing - but I don't think you ever really are! Well I know secretly I'm not, despite what my DH thinks! Here's hoping we all have regular cycles and BFP soon.

I'm with you guys. I came off the pill last Nov and we won't be TTC for a few months yet. I was very irregular in my pre pill days (was on the pill for 10+ years) so wanted to give myself some time. I've been getting periods but the cycles are long and different lengths..so one time AF came on CD30, next one on CD45, longest was CD58... I have my fingers crossed it settles at some point..i guess I am glad that I'm getting them full stop because I was worried that they might not come back at all and I'd have probs with that. I think I will always worry about something..!
