MunchedTooManyMarsLady · 26/01/2005 00:02

you don't get anything for a pair.... not in this game

FineFigureFio · 26/01/2005 06:24

I would say vouchers, M&S etc
or meal vouchers, which are always useful

woodpops · 26/01/2005 08:24

Next vouchers, preimum make up goodie bags like clinique or Chanel. A St Tropez tan at a Salon. Year supply of nappies. Potty training stuff for older kids. Pregnancey stuff, kiddie goodies (clothes or toys). A shopping dash would be good.

ghosty · 26/01/2005 08:32

Perhaps something that us forriners .... those of us that live out of the UK????
I would love to take part in a comp and never do as I did ask once if I could take part in a particular competition and got no answer from Mumsnet
I pay my sub too .....
Things like vouchers from shops in the UK are not worth entering for .... IYSWIM??
Pretty please with a cherry on top?

Casmie · 26/01/2005 09:20

*childrens clothes ie.£100 to spend in mothercare, so we wouldnt have to worry about getting him kitted out
*female clothing-so we can look good for once!

jodee · 26/01/2005 23:14

Money is always good!
Otherwise vouchers - Next/M&S/JL/Currys/Tescos/ Sainsbos.

A new wardrobe (clothes, not furniture!)

champs · 27/01/2005 17:19

WOW!! some great ideas here, Thanks!! I will aim to at least enquire about some of theese.
Also thanks for the coments about winning things for yourselves as opposed to just kids, will look into that too.

ghosty-- sorry you have had a negative experience. What comp was it for? I dont think I saw the querry. also what country are you in?

Pampering prizes seem to be very popular so I will have a go at finding something from this catagory.

Cant make any promises re: clive owen tho

Thanks again and keep the ideas comming.

Quick note to Ghosty - we're really sorry about the lack of response. We do endeavour to get back to everyone but occasionally one or two mails slip thru the net and this must have been the case with this one, we'd certainly never have deliberately ignored you. Would you mind mailing us at [email protected] to let us know why you were unsure whether you were eligible to enter and we'll get back to you. Once again, we're really sorry...

Rachel, Carrie and Justine

ghosty · 29/01/2005 23:57

Thanks Rachel,
Will contact you this weekend .... I started a thread to ask the question .... sooooo long ago now I can't remember .... I just assumed from the lack of response that those of us overseas couldn't take part ....
Champs, I am in New Zealand .... no mothercare/Boots/M&S/Mini Boden/Ikea (I could go on and on and on ) in NZ alas!

I know, how about a competition just for me where I can win some M&S sandwiches and you could send them to me? ... or some M&S bras and knickers ... or ... I know, an all expenses paid return trip (first class of course) for the whole Ghosty family to the UK to spend 1000 quid at Blue Water ......

Actually, forget the flights as I am coming to the UK in June anyway, but you could always upgrade us and still throw in the trip to Blue Water ....

marthamoo · 30/01/2005 00:48

I like this month's prize (the canvas print of the photo). Now all I need is to win a ski-ing/winter/camping holiday so I can review it and enter the damn thing. Tad exclusive, methinks

MunchedTooManyMarsLady · 30/01/2005 00:54

Not keen on the san tropez tan, probably because my skin is already naturally nice and dark. Would take the holiday to san tropez instead!

tigermoth · 30/01/2005 08:27

thanks for starting this thread, champs.

Definitely agree it would be nice to see more competitions for mumsnetters as people - whether the prizes are pampering or practical.

I assume you have approached the companies who advertise on the home page? vouchers from any of them, but especially the biggies, like Tesco and John Lewis, would be really useful.

Vouchers from H and M or other high street clothing storas would be good. Also theatre and cinema tokens.

If possible, when the prize is for an event, activity park entry etc, could you get the prize-giver to include one night's accommodation at a travelodge or something? Travelling long distances in a day with children is difficult, as we all know! Also if accommodatoin is included, mumsnetters who live further away from the venue can enter the competition.

Lastly, I agree with marthamoo that sometimes the conditions for entry a bit exclusive. Anyone who goes to the library can enter a book or video review. Recipies and parenting tips are easy for anyone to enter as well. But being able to send in a holiday and product review depends on your being able to afford the thing in the first place.

happymerryberries · 30/01/2005 08:40

For those people who are outside the UK, could you do an Amazon voucher? Would that get to most MN's?

Tortington · 31/01/2005 01:04

i want a holiday camping in france
i want a family room in a travellodge or similar anywhere in the country - so we can go visit relatives.

i would like to be able to spend a couple of hundred quid on flowers for other people

tesco vouchers would come in handy

a pink keyboard and mouse

toys for older kids

day trips to a theme park of my choice - cos alton towers is a bit far away

pizza hit vouchers

how about win a birthday party at pizza hut.

i would like a flight to the south of france to see my friend ruby

ta very muchio

ghosty · 31/01/2005 05:20

Happyberries .... alas, no Amazon in NZ either ....
Just miles of beaches, loads of beer, loads of people with funny accents .....

I think I just live too far away .... I don't think DH would be happy with the suggestion we come back to the UK just for Mumsnet

tigermoth · 31/01/2005 07:14

custardo, funny that you mention Alton Towers. We won tickets for the park, courtesy of mumsnet. I didn't want to drive up for the day, so we decided to take the bus (or rather lots of busses and coaches). We left SE london at 3.00 am in the morning and got home at 10.00 pm at night. It was do-able, just, as we all grabbed some sleep on the coach.

weightwatchingwaterwitch · 31/01/2005 08:23

A few hours of a nanny's/doula's time so I can get some sleep.
Sitters membership and a free babysitting session
Amazon vouchers
Oddbins vouchers

Says it all about my life atm doesn't it?

KatieMac · 31/01/2005 08:50

I never seem to see the competitions......could they be a bit more visible on the 'Talk' bit

I did the survey a few days/week ago after it was mentioned by the team....but I just don't see them

DecafArabica · 31/01/2005 12:28

Win a Celebrity Birth. Posh maternity outfit from posh pregnancy clothes shop, the services of an independent midwife, free boob job/lipo/botox with your elective CS, lucrative endorsement deal with baby needs suppiers so you don't need to work or buy anything for the little darling ever...Arabica! Wake up and smell the, er, decaf.

Justine (mumsnet) · 31/01/2005 14:56

Hi KatieMac,
Our comps manager advertises the week's competition here on talk too, usually on a monday. Alternatively look on the home page - competitions usually run from monday to friday and are advertised every day with the winners announced on saturday.
Best of luck to all!
