I know it's early yet but please please please can we have a Christmas Tree competition?

We all take photos of our decorated christmas trees, put them on our profile and then vote for a winner?

here's mine

ADragonIs4LifeNotJustHalloween · 30/10/2007 18:27

Only if the entries were anonymous so you voted for the tree, not the poster's name.

stripeymama · 30/10/2007 18:29

That tree is magnificent.

Tigaaaarghna · 30/10/2007 18:29

Agree anonymous is good.
Could have categories. Best on a budget, Best all out excess, best dECOrations etc.

MerlinsBeard · 30/10/2007 18:30

noooooo, that would leave to best decorated grotto house

Tigaaaarghna · 30/10/2007 18:36

no no no
Categories I'm telling you
Avoid the hideous grotto-horrors by not hvaing a grotto-horror category.
Classiest tree
Lentiliest tree
Most invetive use of a mooncup
Best modern
Best traditional
etc

nappyaddict · 30/10/2007 18:44

stripeymama is it you that's just emailed me? are your initials BM?

OP posts:
MerlinsBeard · 30/10/2007 18:47

lentiliest tree or tree of lentils

Tigaaaarghna · 30/10/2007 18:47

Best knitted tree?

OozingSlashesFromTigerFeet · 30/10/2007 18:49

Mine will surely win the "Best tree decorated by a three-year-old with tinsel exploded everywhere and all the baubles in the same place" category

MerlinsBeard · 30/10/2007 18:51

Mine will be the best Monica from friends tree we each decorate a side and i turn it round

DumbledoresGirl · 30/10/2007 18:58

How about a before and after category? ie "this is the tree my children decorated before they went to bed" and "this is the tree now that I have tweaked it after they have gone to bed?

I would win that one.

MarsLady · 30/10/2007 19:00

Oh I don't know DG.....might pip you to that particular award!

DumbledoresGirl · 30/10/2007 19:02

Actually, I imagine it will strongly contested. I think I will enter the "Tree obviously in need of tweaking but kindly left so that children do not think their efforts are undervalued" category.

MarsLady · 30/10/2007 19:04

lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Surely you know that you're on to a loser there.... there are many a MNer who doesn't believe in interfering with their wee darling's crap creative genius!

ghoulmoonfiend · 30/10/2007 19:04

I let my children have their own (artificial) tree in their room so they can use all the tinsel and tat and palstic crappiness whcih I cannot bear to put on my real tree

Boogalooblue · 30/10/2007 19:10

would this one win any prizes?

DumbledoresGirl · 30/10/2007 19:12

Boogalooblue, that one would win the prize for the tree most likely to induce vomiting.

Boogalooblue · 30/10/2007 19:13

or this?

Boogalooblue · 30/10/2007 19:16

am very tempted by this one

OozingSlashesFromTigerFeet · 30/10/2007 19:49

If it was down to dh we would be entering the "This is the hole where the tree would go if I wasn't a bah humbug miserable old git"

OliviaMumsnet · 30/10/2007 22:47

Hi
