Competitions with prizes for older children or non pregnant parents?

Dear comps people, have you got any comps lined up with prizes for older children or non pregnant parents? As I am not pregnant, and don't have a baby or a toddler - not even a pre schooler any more - lots of recent comps have not been relevant to me

Second that plea!

jampots · 20/08/2005 09:46

me three!

CompsManager · 20/08/2005 20:25

Hiya!!
Thanks for your input. There have been comps for varied ages but I agree that there has been quite a few for younger children. There is a comp coming up on 5th Sept which is aimed at older children so look out for that.

What ages are your children? What kind of things would you like to see as prizes?

I really appreiciate(sp) your input and will do my best to source comps for older kids.

What about a TP one again (as long as I win, of course)

CompsManager · 20/08/2005 21:22

We had a tp comp in april which was very popular. Will see if they want to do another one.

jampots · 20/08/2005 21:24

for crying out loud - Im trying to get rid of TP stuff - please no more!!!!!

roisin · 20/08/2005 21:27

Free holidays are always popular!

But more realistically, days out prizes go down well, I think. Also theatre/show tickets make great prizes. Both of which I know you've done before. Cinema tickets? Bowling tickets?

My boys are not particularly sporty, but sportswear/gear might make an excellent prize for some people with older children.

For the non-sporty ones how about targetting book sellers such as Amazon, WHS, Blackwells, Ottakars, or Borders for £100 of newly published children's books, or whatever?! Oh and we give The Book People enough free publicity on this board; they should be up for giving a prize I'm sure

How do you go about finding competition prizes? Do you select companies and target them?

jampots · 20/08/2005 21:35

well, my kids are 12 and 9. Ive never seen one for teens to be honest and that would be nice.

I would like to see: games console, MP3 player, dvds for older kids, handbags, jewellery, etc. Also for the winter, designer xmas tree and decs would be nice or nice fleecies or patio heater or.....

Not much I know!

CompsManager · 20/08/2005 21:40

jampots -- we are talking about tp the garden playcentre people aren't we??

lol, not oo much at all

roisin -- lots of good ideas there.

mostly companies contact us but I have been targeting companies from a list I made from a thread asking for prize/ company ideas for a while too.

tigermoth · 20/08/2005 21:41

roisin has said most of my suggestions. Show and cinema tickets could especially good for you to target as presumably the organisers need lots of pre-event publicity.

Also, vouchers for shops like H&M would make a really nice prize. As they cater for children as well as adults, we must represent a target market for them.

Travelodge vouchers, too - again they are very family friendly so mumsnet must be a place they would choose to advertise.

Holidays? Butlins and Haven hols or vouchers, again for the same reason.
