Let’s Start a Collective Petition for Climate Action

Hello everyone,

I know it can feel overwhelming when it comes to making a real impact on climate change, especially as individuals. But what if, instead of trying to change everything, we focused on one achievable goal? There’s power in numbers, and with a targeted approach, we could collectively petition the government to make a small yet significant environmental change.

A government petition can gain a response if it reaches 10,000 signatures, and if it hits 100,000 signatures, it will be considered for debate in Parliament. By working together, we could select a cause, start a petition, and commit to sharing it widely. Imagine what we could achieve by the end of 2025 if we all put our voices behind one action!

One idea is to push for a ban on non-recyclable balloons, which are not only harmful to wildlife but also a major source of unnecessary plastic waste. But I’d love to hear your thoughts. Here are a few other potential ideas we could consider:

  • Phasing out single-use plastic packaging for fruits and vegetables, pushing supermarkets to adopt more eco-friendly options.
  • Mandating public recycling bins in all local parks and popular outdoor spaces to make it easier for everyone to recycle while on the go.
  • Enforcing strict labelling on eco-friendly products so consumers can make informed choices about truly sustainable options.

These are just ideas to get us started, and I’d love to know what everyone here thinks! Let’s brainstorm and decide on one actionable cause that we believe in. If we’re all on board, we could kick off a petition and make this a collaborative effort to create positive change.

By the end of 2025, we could be part of something meaningful that takes us a step closer to a more sustainable world.

What do you think?

I think you are playing at the edges

Because we need to focus hard and fast on the big sources if emissions

Tax on imports in proportion to emissions
Used to fund home insulation and heat pumps

Or a carbon allowance per person of ( staring point ) 5 tonnes co2 per person to use how you like , but you have to present your ration book for every purchase

I would support all of those suggestions

Have to start somewhere
