When did right wing, politicians become so unhinged? I know people can put it down to Donald Trump, but it seems to be a bit of a pattern. We've got our lot over here that says a lot of rubbish or the not as bad as that. Although, give it time.

unfortunately yes, people do believe and agree with her. Conspiracies are very entertaining but there’s a portion of people who have completely characterised themselves as truth-seers regardless of any evidence to the contrary. Their whole sense of self worth is completely emeshed in knowing better than anyone else.

well yes, have been for a while. COVID seemed to be the trigger for a lot of this. A lot of countries are finding the same creep of insanity in their societies too. It’s cyclical I reckon, humans can’t just be happy with their lot and crack on, we’d get bored if everything stayed the same. That and the power hungry spy opportunities when the majority seem placid.

Of course you can write crazy into any political narrative. Weather lasers to the right, gender woo to the left. Madness.

Lots of people (mainly the chronically online) won't believe science but will believe randomers online who have an opinion/idea that aligns with their broader views. It's good to question things, but it's wild that the same people who dispel science and research because they're 'open minded' will readily accept randomers. Same during covid- a Dr saying something they didn't agree with was talking rubbish, but a Dr who said something they thought to be true was obviously an expert to be listened to as they're a doctor!
