I was pretty depressed to read in this article yesterday that carbon emissions from fossil fuels are forecast to hit record highs in 2022.

I really don't see that it is going to be possible to stop climate change. As quickly as we do stuff to decrease carbon emissions the worlds population expands which is probably negating any decreases.

Isn't it just so so sad :(

This isn't cause for despair. Renewable energy is already cheaper than fossil fuel energy and we are getting better at carbon capture. The more people line is misleading anyway - it's the top 1% who are driving most of this. There is a path to a future where we have lots of clean energy and a better world and we have to keep trying to get there. Despair is a luxury we can't afford.

It's not driven by population expansion but by things like economic growth

So not more people but people with more money that they spend on the wrong things because that's cheaper than the right things
