Merging Weather and Climate change topics?

I've been thinking about how to give more visibility to the conversation around climate change on mn. Often climate change conversations ends up in in the Weather topic and naturally there's a lot of crossover between the two conversations. I started one when 40c first became visible consistently in the models.

Before I broach the conversation with people on the Weather topic, how would people on the Climate Change topic feel about merging the two topics? Weather and Climate Change?

I think it would have the advantage of boosting visibility for the Climate change conversations, as well as the Weather conversations. I think it would also help people to understand the connections between the two - that climate change isn't some abstract lentil weaving concept, but has real impact on every day lives.

What do you all think?

I feel like they are theoretically different but I know what you mean they are merging together now the weather extremes are starting to hit. I've no objections but I feel a prepper-like panic about climate change currently, perhaps due to reading too many books. The thing is MN kind of bridges the gap between "I'm just one person" and " the government has to act first," . I think MN is potentially a powerful force for change, and no high-sounding idea that doesn't work on the ground will get past us either.

Oh hello, fancy seeing you here!

Yes definitely. I was debating starting a topic over in weather...then remembered this board exists and wondered if anyone had started it over here...

Merging the topics would be good. Whether you would get an in rush of 'its just summer' and the '1976ers' climate deniers over in weather is worth considering. But yes climate change needs to be more visible.
