Climate Change

I think I might have reached MY tipping point

I have been looking on twitter and seeing all the amazing turn outs for the climate strikes, looking at the change that one 16 year old girl can make in the world and I think it has come to the time that I really need to make sure I am doing everything I can.

I actually cried a little when I realised that maybe there is hope that we can turn this around (although I think that getting politicians to realise and governments to make change is the big missing link in it all)
I am veggie already and need to get back to being vegan, I walk to work, I hardly ever buy new clothes, recycle, use shampoo bars etc but my big one is flying. I have to fly a lot for work and in the last few years have been flying a fair amount back to my home country for various things. I have decided this needs to stop because I cannot in all conscious continue to do this while acknowledging that the world is fucked. It is so hypocritical.

I am not trying to evangelise about GT but I think she has done a bloody awesome job and her parents must be so proud of what she is achieving

I agree wholeheartedly. We all need to be honest with ourselves and question our lifestyle choices.
I find doing stuff at local level can be more achievable than trying to tackle the huge stuff. Supporting businesses who do things right, making changes in our schools/workplaces, etc. We are asleep at the wheel and our children demand for us to wake up. I can't blame them.

Thought I'd share this, I think it's great.

They have done well to keep within a reasonable boundary all this time. Today a report was that some unspeakables had decided to steal trolley loads of food from a supermarket and claim they represented climate rebellion. Some people will believe it. This, on the day air pollution is back to nearly precovid levels. This too on a day when microplastic has been found in most fresh food, salad and vegetables, fed in along with the water their roots take up.
