Went gp this morning.. They said chest sounds clear and oxygen is fine. I mentioned my chest near ribs are sore as I'm coughing up mucus and 2as advised to take paracetmal. Anyone have any tips? I've got a hot water bottle, got a wet chesty cough so I really thought I had a chest infection but apparently not. Anyone else had any experience dealing with a nasty viral infection? How long did yours last? Thank you in advance 😊

I was sent to A&E the other night (looooong wait!) when my cold turned to a chest infection, then became very painful. They wanted to xray and do blood tests to rule out pneumonia etc, which they did. Diagnosed pleurisy (cause of the pain) and a viral chest infection. Said I should take ibuprofen and plenty of fluids. I've had it at least 10 days now and it's still rumbling on!

I had something similar a while back. The coughing made my ribs and chest muscles so sore, even though my chest was clear. Lots of fluids, rest and a hot water bottle helped. The worst of it passed after about a week, but the cough lingered for a few weeks. Hope you start feeling better soon.
