END OF YEAR LETTERS - ARE THEY SILLY?

Hi everyone,

I was just wondering..do you send one of those end of year round up letters? Usually they are utterly nauseating with a bunch of kids wearing christmas sweaters and the parents showing off about their kids' glorious achievments. Do you think those kinds of letters are just unnecessarily show-offy or a nice way for people to keep in touch? Would love your thoughts because I keep meaning to send one out but want to make it funny. Any tips???

This is an extract from my send up (well it made me laugh anyway!!):

"Six year old Bonnie continues to thrill us both with her dancing and singing skills. She has been accepted at the Bolshoi Ballet in Moscow and the private jet takes her there weekly. Some people claim all this early success might go to her head but I keep her down to earth by having firm rules. For example, although she is very hairy I've told her that she cannot have laser hair removal until she is eight. "

I think they're hilarious. I've often thought of doing a spoof one, but never get round to it! We always get one for the previous occupants of our house (they moved out 14 years ago) so I know every detail of these strangers' lives, complete with photographs of all their holidays and grand-children. Def do a funny one, especially if you have friends who send them seriously.

missgreatbritain I know what you mean!! Same thing happened to me. I feel quite sorry for one American family who wrote a really tedious/upbeat christmas letter to me - and they don't mean to send it to me, they have got the address for a lady called Karen Scott slightly wrong - this year they had a reunion and I got to see 75 of them wearing matching t shirts. I should tell them they are sending to the wrong address but the upside is they recently sent Karen Scott an amazing bunch of flowers to 'welcome her to her new apartment' and I kept those what else could I do???
