Another turkey question

Hi

Do any of you put an onion up the arse end of the bird to keep it moist during cooking?

My sister has recommended this using a peeled onion, and doing a bit of googling has cast doubt on whether peeled or not

Have decided not to stuff this year in order to keep the cooking time down, so need something I think. Will be putting bacon on top of the bird.

Thanks

I thought it was for flavour more than anything. And I put it in the body of the bird.

For moistness, I stuff under the skin of the turkey breast with butter, and cook the turkey breast side down. Its beautifully moist!

An onion or a lemon up it's bum yes. Chopped in half. I do the same with chicken

Agree with Jet - half a lemon up its bum makes the turkey (or chicken) nice and moist. Not sure about an onion.

Thanks, tulpe - does the turkey taste lemony?
