Quick Turkey Question

Non Organic 4.8kg turkey has been in the oven for 2.5 hours. Have just skewered the fattest part of the leg, and the juices are running clear, but every web site says something different about time.

I was reckoning it should be another 45 minutes,

cooking at 180 in fan assisted oven.

What do you think - should I take it out,
Don't have meat themometer and couldn't get one

I normally do 20mins per 500g plus 20 for luck, so for a 4.8kg turkey that would be about three hours if my maths is right! Can you take a sharp knife and cut into the flesh to see if it's at all pink? Is there stuffing in the cavity as that adds to cooking time?

I just checked my own turkey which is in the fridge it weighs 3.6kg and it is telling me the cooking time is 3 hrs 10 minutes. I think you're right, everyone says different, but I'd be inclined to think yours needs longer tbh.

Obviusly the turkey itself is not telling me how long it needs cooking, I'm going off the label on the wrapper!

I've been thinking of using my fan oven instead of the conventional one this year (ooh get me - two ovens!) and everything I've read tells me the fan oven temp should be slightly lower than a conventional one. Could your turkey be done already because you've had it on conventional temp instead? Disclaimer - I may be talking complete rubbish.

Thanks for the help.
I took it out and it seems fine

Happy crimbo. Hopefully I will stave off food poisoning for another year!!!
