Just sorting out all the presents for the stockings - ie from Father Christmas.

DS1 has 1.
DD has enough.
DS2 has 0.

How did that happen??????????

How old is DS2?

Is there a £ shop near you where you can quickly get some extra bits withiout breaking the bank?

MrsWeasley · 24/12/2009 10:35

I like the DCs to have the same number of pressies to open and its always worked out well until this year! Have had equal money spent on them by unless I cut the sleeves off of my DD's new designer tops and wrap them individually her pile is going to be smaller!

Flightattendant · 24/12/2009 10:39

Oh dear you're going to have to go shopping or make something!!!

Do you have a 'birthday drawer' to raid?

IsItMeOrSanta · 24/12/2009 10:39

Sounds like you got too excited about xmas and forgot something to me . Still time to pop somewhere for a few little things.

mustrunmore · 24/12/2009 10:41

omg, I'd be a mortified if that had happened here! How old is ds2? And can you go shopping now without ds2?

Flightattendant · 24/12/2009 10:43

I would have had the same thing happen if I hadn't been very lucky and realised it was a bit hit and miss a couple of weeks ago!

I always buy random stuff without taking a list and often I find I have several things for one person and nothing for anyone else!

FabIsSoExcitedAboutXmas · 24/12/2009 10:46

Okay, 1 book found in present box for DS1 but I will have to take tags off their presents from us and put them in the stockings. DS2 is 4 so will know.

This has happened because I have bought them very little due to already having a cupboard full of bits bought throughout the year, and the fact that DH is building them something that was thought to be costing £300 but has actually cost nearer £600.

Otherwise I probably would go out and buy more stuff.

I am dreading finding this when I do stockings tonight - oh well - will bulk them up with clementines and chocolates if necessary.

What has your DH made?

IsItMeOrSanta · 24/12/2009 11:00

Ooh, what's your DH made? It sounds like it must be pretty special.

Your solution sounds fine. As long as there's some choc in there, I would always have been happy personally...

FabIsSoExcitedAboutXmas · 24/12/2009 11:03

Flip, I have rewrapped some presents from the paper that Father Christmas has used and the boys have chocolate from him but DD's is from us.

I will reveal what he has made later as it will out me in RL.

I will have to name change.

Do you have a hawkins bazaar near you? I find they are best for stocking fillers.

LastOfTheMulledWine · 24/12/2009 13:38

Ooh. [intrigued]

I've given up on believing dd will be remotely interested in any of her presents once she sees what FIL has built for her.

It's a replica, child-sized narrow boat. It's perfect in every detail, plumbing, working rudder etc. He's been working on it for 4 months. I cannot compete with stockings of flannels, toothbrush etc.

Still, Father Christmas can't compete either.

JackTheHallsWithBauersOfHolly · 24/12/2009 13:45

Everytime I saw somethign 'good' for stocking I bought 2 otherwise I would be in the same boat. I got most from Instore/poundstretcher/hypervalue place, worth a trip?
Have also wrapped some raisin boxes as their stockings are a bit optimistaclly big...

PandaEis · 24/12/2009 13:54

so does everyone specify 'father christmas' presents and 'mum and dad' presents for the kids then?? i have just wrapped all the presents for DD up and have told her all her presents come from father christmas is there an unwritten rule??

melpomene · 24/12/2009 14:42

If you can get to a corner shop / supermarket you could get:
sweets
bubblebath (eg Matey)
mini packs of cereal
comic/ magazine
colouring book or pens
curly straws

Flame · 24/12/2009 14:48

ours are all tagless - am making it up as i go along

JackTheHallsWithBauersOfHolly · 24/12/2009 14:58

FC gives small things in teh stocking.
We or the family give all the main presents.
Although it is hard explaining this to DD's when their friends get different.

FabIsSoExcitedAboutXmas · 24/12/2009 15:17

Thanks all, I am sorted.
