I think you've been very unlucky, I've just come back from Tesco and it was really quiet and they had everything I wanted except for salt (for the ice not the turkey) and it was actually a pleasant experience. There was loads of veg and bread etc but not sure about turkeys as I already have mine.
Good luck to everyone still to shop.

Ob, you fell for it.

He is sitting in a pub even now, lounging around with a bag of crisps and a Dubonnet.

No food!

upafrozenhill · 24/12/2009 11:28

Oblomov You will starve because there is no meat? That is a joke right?

ImSoNotTelling · 24/12/2009 11:39

It's hilarious the shops are closed for ONE DAY and everyone goes mental like it's armageddon coming.

Having said that we have spent a fortune and done 2 massive shops in the last few days and we're not even eating here on xmas day

largevirginbirthandtonic · 24/12/2009 11:43

Humbuggerance you have snow! We have rain

Loads on the shelves here too.

tethersjinglebellend · 24/12/2009 11:44

It's Christmas eve... Isn't that what take-aways are for?

ilovesprouts · 24/12/2009 11:47

ImSoNotTelling · 24/12/2009 11:48

SleighGirl · 24/12/2009 11:49

Oblomov did you go to T in Addlestone, was there really nothing there? The butchers in Addlestone is good too?

If you're desperate I may have some stuff you can buy/borrow?

SleighGirl · 24/12/2009 11:50

Quite irritating because I drove past your house at 9.15 this morning! Where has the last year gone?

Just got back from our Asda and it was very busy but still tonnes of meat and veg. Staff very helpful and cheerful even when marking down fresh produce and being beseiged by bargain hunters (including me)

Was wished Merry Christmas by a few staff and no one having bust ups over the sprouts

catinthehat2 · 24/12/2009 12:26

Pub, I'm telling you.....

SleighGirl · 24/12/2009 12:47

the pubs around here are all pretty grim so I really hope he's not sat in one of them, urgh!

Oblomov · 24/12/2009 20:49

Sleigh, you sweetie. Coffee in the new year ? mon or fri's good for me. promise me we will do it before jan is out.

As it was we spent the afternoon in the pub with ds's and got a chicken takeaway on the way home.

Merry christmas everyone.

We went to Sains today expecting it to be heaving, but it was fine. They started reducing meat/cheese counter stuff at about noon, so I bought loads to stick in freezer.

It's always a gamble on xmas eve - some years if you go into Waitrose they would have drastically reduced turkeys, and other years none left...

Hope you managed to get stuff in the end
