I've tidied the house (most of it)

Nigella's ham-in-coke is on the hob as we speak.

Made some braised red cabbage and a roast chicken & roast potatoes for leftovers on Boxing day (we're going out for lunch and I must have leftovers on Boxing Day!)

Just been to Sainsbo's and bought some bubbly and wine.

DH took DS to the barber's and then the park, so it's been a nice quiet morning.

I still need to:

Do a quick tidy up of the front room - toys strewn everywhere, but generally it's clean, just needs straightening.

Also need to re-mop floors as we've been trudging snow-slush in and out all day.

Need to do roasted root veg and chestnut stuffing for tonight's dinner (the ham)

DH has just got the wine and nibbles out, though, so am losing steam with trying to get it all 'done'

hohoholepew · 24/12/2009 15:04

ThisBoyDraculaDrew · 24/12/2009 15:06

Clean bathroom

and most importantly Cut the tray of Brownies.

Veges are all par-boiled
Turkey is in the oven...but it is DPs job to carve later.

Mincepiedermama · 24/12/2009 15:07

Clean the murky downstairs toilet which I haven't had the stomach to venture into for over a month. I have three boys who still regularly miss.

I'm also planning to make some adult only cakes this afternoon with a secret herbal ingredient which is fab for taking the edges off your stress levels if you're not going to be drinking.

Kids are uncleaning and nicking the food!!!!! grrr.

ABetaDad · 24/12/2009 16:19

Wrap presents, construct a table tennis table, work out how the heck I download songs to an iPod Shuffle.

athomeagain · 24/12/2009 16:21

Oh god yes i felt like that yesterday!!!!!!!!!!!

athomeagain · 24/12/2009 16:45

We are leaving the construction of toys till tommorrow or maybe that day after?

nikki1978 · 24/12/2009 17:29

Just have to wrap all the presents now. Luckily we are at family members houses tomorrow and Boxing Day so no mad rush. Made my chestnut stuffing earlier to take to MILs tomorrow. I have just realised that we don't have enough wrapping paper to wrap the kids presents so am hoping DH can find some more on his drive home from London this evening. Otherwise I will have to resort to newspaper which won't have quite the same effect .

Will be wrapping pressies in front of the tv tonight with a vodka and coke in hand

Pantofino · 24/12/2009 17:55

I think we're all sorted - hurrah! Just a couple of things to wrap still. DH did the hoovering whilst I was round Belgo's eating mince pies and gossipping. We've been to the nativity and ordered a chinese. We were going to pop out for a drink but everywhere is shut! How very dare they!

OhYouMerryMerryKitten · 24/12/2009 18:44

I think we are sorted. dd needs to put out stuff for Father Christmas and he needs to do his bit.

Can't work out whether to get the turkey out tonight to come to room temp or not?

cyteen · 24/12/2009 18:51

This is a real window on what it's like to host Christmas! We're always away, so my list is:

  • put DS in bed
  • drink some ale
  • eat some cheese and crackers
  • wrap a couple of stray gifts
  • pack bags for a few days away
  • put everything by the door so we can pack the car first thing
  • eat some biscuits
  • see if DP fancies a shag
  • go to bed

Merry Christmas all

ABetaDad · 24/12/2009 19:01

cyteen - I shall be thinking of you at 11.30 pm still trying to fit wing nut A into recessed hole Y.

How on earth do you wangle an 'away Xmas'?

OhYouMerryMerryKitten · 24/12/2009 19:01

Merry Christmas Cyteen
