For SIL, mid thirties?

Have bought one already, DP says she will take offence becuase it's an 'old ladies' present. I'm 25 and I'd use it?

Its a bit like a 'bedjacket'. You could buy her some antimacassars just to compliment it.

mustrunmore · 23/12/2009 15:45

Well, its just a wheatpillow but shaped for your neck. I use my wheatpillow constantly, although not eally round my neck, but there nothing to say she cant have this on feet /tummy watching tv etc.

I'd be happy with it as a gift as long as it wasnt from dh, as not v romantic. From in laws and friends it'd be great.

Hang on tho, I didnt read if the inside is removable? Cos trust me, if you cant take the outer off to was h it, its a PITA.

ChickandDuck · 23/12/2009 15:50

Thank you for your positivity mustrunmore

Maybe I'm just prematurely aging

nickytwotimes · 23/12/2009 16:06

I am 36. I have chronic pain.

I would be MORTIFIED if someone bought me that monstrosity beauty.

Sorry!

ChickandDuck · 23/12/2009 16:48

Why nickytwotimes? Even it it was explained that twas not bought because your considered old?

OP posts:
Divatheshopaholic · 23/12/2009 16:54

i dont like it either.

nickytwotimes · 23/12/2009 16:57

If it needs explained then it isn't really a good gift.

It is totally an old lady thing.

that bad?

It comes in a nice box.....

OP posts:
nickytwotimes · 23/12/2009 17:05

Give her the box?

ThumbleBells · 23/12/2009 17:07

Hmmm, there are better looking versions of that which I'd find less off-putting. It reminds me a little of a 70s bathmat combo.

However, my mum got me a lovely green velvet lavender neck/muscle bag thingy that you put in the microwave, and that looks much nicer so was a lot less "grannyish".

ChickandDuck · 23/12/2009 17:07

crap ... really wished I'd posted this a few days ago!!

OP posts:
ChickandDuck · 23/12/2009 17:08

I thought the fur was less grannyish, it's really soft!

OP posts:
HugeBaublesWhatDidISayRoy · 23/12/2009 17:08

do you like her though? If not then a perfick pressie [frgin]

ThumbleBells · 23/12/2009 17:09

if it was electric pink fur, maybe - but that roadkill badger fur effect is gak, honestly.

SmacOnTheLipsUnderTheMistletoe · 23/12/2009 17:10

I'm mid thirties and would definitely consider that a crap present - sorry.
This reminds me of the slanket thread a couple of weeks back. Grim gifts.

ChickandDuck · 23/12/2009 17:10

Not really got an opinion on her one way or the other, don't know her well enough. I don't want to cause offence though, do you think it will?

OP posts:
ChickandDuck · 23/12/2009 17:11

oh well, I tried, I'll stick with smellies next year...

OP posts:
ThumbleBells · 23/12/2009 17:13

quite possibly, yes. How about you just get her a nice gift voucher for e.g. John Lewis so she can pick something she wants? You can say that you have thought it through and that as you don't know her taste, you thought it best to let her choose for herself rather than get her something minging she wouldn't like.

ChickandDuck · 23/12/2009 17:13

Wouldn't have bothered with anything but DP has got his bro gig tickets and we've bought for their DS so would feel bad not to get anything
