skipping rope with wooden handles with painted faces too babyish?

She is quite active/tom boyish neighbour who plays with my much younger ds's - my ds (5) is getting one and I thought they could both play out with them and she could teach him how to do it?

my dd is 9 and she would love it.
Great idea to teach her little pal

sounds like a lovely idea to me but on the off-chance that she might find it a bit young (some 10 year olds would I think, even though they would probably enjoy using it), perhaps consider an accompanying note explaining that your DS is getting one and how much you would appreciate her help in showing him how to use it.

Thanks guys! More positive response than I would have thought. I would say she is a slightly young 10y old if anything, only child, no older siblings. They really enjoy riding their bikes together and playing the wii, despite the age difference, and she knows he is getting the same skateboard she has, so I think I will go ahead with this gift and tell her she is in charge of teaching ds1, as you suggested.
