Mulled Wine

How do I make a very simple mulled wine? Never attempted before - help!

I have always bought a ready prepared sachet of spices required. They usually have them near the red wine in the supermarket (Schwartz do one). Just add to a bottle of wine and cook as per instructions.

I use delia's recipe for mulled wine, its really simple and lovely...

Mulled Wine
Ingredients
2 x 75cl bottles medium to full bodied red wine
2.5 pints (1.5 litres) water
1 orange stuck with cloves
2 oranges, sliced
2 lemons, sliced
6 tablespoons granulated sugar or honey
2 inch (5cm) piece of cinnamon stick
2 teaspoons finely grated fresh root ginger or ground ginger

Method
Put all the ingredients in a saucepan, then heat to simmering point, stirring until all the sugar has dissolved. Keep it barely at simmering point for at least 20 minutes ? but do not boil or all the alcohol will evaporate.
This can be made in advance, then re-heated just before the party. Serve it arm in ½ pint mugs (in which case there will be 12 servings) or else in 24 sturdy wine glasses.
