Treat it like cut flowers, s set it up in a bucket of water with a tiny drop of bleach in it.

buy a potted one!

Just get a non-drop one - never had a problem with a non-drop variety, however the year we got a traditional one (I wanted the christmassy smell, I know, I'm stupid) it shed within days and we put ours up relatively late.

I would receommed a fraser fir, we get one every year and you can get a nice 7ft one in Hmebase for £30. Great if you have smaller house as slimmer than other trees.
