Mince pie, sherry and a carrot Smile

OddBoots · 17/11/2016 07:06

Carrot and a parsnip for the reindeer, a mince pie and a glass of milk.

dc are 17 and 13 this year, I'm not sure when to stop doing it.

mirokarikovo · 17/11/2016 07:14

Mince pie
Sherry/port/brandy/whatever looks nicest from the booze cupboard
Carrots - ideally enough for Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen and Comet and Cupid and Donner and Blitzen as well as rudolf. If I can get hold of them I like to get carrots with live green bushy tops.

Chrisinthemorning · 17/11/2016 07:20

When I was small sherry, now beer.
He always makes a mess, knocks things over, leaves crumbs everywhere. I complain about this lots!

MTWTFSS · 17/11/2016 07:51

Gaviscon sachet. Bet he gets a lot of heartburn!

kiki22 · 17/11/2016 07:56

Milk and whatever biscuits we have last year Rudolph got some of the cats whiskers temptations because I forgot carrots Grin he enjoyed them for a change. We do talc foot prints with some glitter from where the chimney breast is though its plastered over to the tree.

BiddyPop · 17/11/2016 09:19

Milk to drink.

Carrot for Rudolph.

Cookies that are baked on Christmas Eve (some years, if we have the 3 essential ingredients (time and energy and patience!), we make them from scratch - but I always make sure I save half a log from an earlier batch and freeze that, so we can just "slice and bake" if we don't have all 3 essential ingredients on Christmas Eve).

Allalonenow · 17/11/2016 09:32

Sherry, mince pie and chocolate coins for Father Christmas and a carrot or two for Rudolph, I'm wondering if FC might prefer a G&T this year!

griffinsss · 17/11/2016 14:37

We leave ahem a bottle is whiskey out for santa and a loaf (?) of stollen.... because that's what we like Grin. We aren't big on the whole santa thing though, we just do it as more of a tradition for the DC.

griffinsss · 17/11/2016 14:38

I should say that I spend xmas eve with my siblings (and I have 10 of them), so don't drink the whole bottle of whisky myself or should I say santa doesn't!

Juanbablo · 17/11/2016 14:39

Always a mince pie and a carrot for the reindeer. Drinks have varied depending on what the dcs think that Santa wants. We've had beer, coke and milk previously.

anyoldname76 · 17/11/2016 16:44

we leave a carrot for the reindeer and a Christmas fairy cake and a glass of brandy for santa

LilMissVixen · 18/11/2016 09:47

Sherry and mince pie for Father Christmas. Although sometimes he fancies a Bailys instead.

Oogle · 18/11/2016 11:36

First year for us too. When I was growing up it was a mince pie, carrot, bowl of milk and a whiskey next to the electric fire.

In our house it'll be mince pie, carrot, bowl of milk and a baileys left by the log burner. The carrot will be half chewed, glass drained (obviously), mince pie crumbs left and milk drank. Stocking above will be full of gifts. I'll excitedly say "he's been! He's been!" and my 2 yr old will look at me like I'm mental.

For future years I intend to leave the stocking in his bedroom to ensure we have longer in bed! This year though, I want to capture it all. I can't wait. I bloody love Christmas Grin

SpringerS · 18/11/2016 11:40

For the last few years we baked cookies on Christmas eve and left some for Santa with a glass of milk. But last month when we were picking the last of the blackberries to freeze for the Magic Custard cake we're going to make on Christmas eve for Christmas morning breakfast, DS decided Santa would love a slice of it too. So I'm delighted that I'll only have to bake one thing on Christmas eve. (It also helped when we were picking the berries as it was slim pickings that late in the year and DS didn't hoover up as many as he normally would have because he was saving them for Santa.)

We always try to leave carrots out for the reindeer but for the last two years as soon as I turn my back DS has tucked into them so the reindeer end up with parsnips. He's just turned 4 now so old enough to know not to just eat the carrots but it's become family legend that DS ignores the cookies and gobbles down the reindeers' carrots and whenever we talk about it, DS laughs in a way that tells me he fully plans to eat them again this year.

HerRoyalFattyness · 18/11/2016 11:42

Father Christmas gets mince pie and booze of some sort. The reindeer get carrots.

Mummyshortlegz · 18/11/2016 11:44

Mince pie
Carrot
Very large measure of islay whiskey.

HerRoyalFattyness · 18/11/2016 11:45

Only just realised this is a 7 year old thread Confused

Ginmakesitallok · 18/11/2016 11:45

MInce pie and glass of milk for santa. Carrot for rudolf, and we sprinkle some glittery oats outside the door and hang the magic key on the door handle.

SymphonyofShadows · 18/11/2016 12:35

Christmas rocky road, which we make on Christmas Eve (it has ginger nuts in it) and a glass of wine. We leave a carrot too, which is later cut with a cookie cutter to look like it's been chomped on.
