Do your children buy each other Xmas presents?

I have 2 DS's, age 2.1 years and 4 months. I was just thinking there if we should get them presents to give to each other? Just something small obviously but to show them (well, the 2 year old) than Christmas is for giving too?

What do you do?

Mine have always gone to the £1 shop to buy their Xmas presents - from abuot 2 as I also wanted to show that it's good to give! When they were little I paid but now they have to earn pocket money by tidying their rooms and make sure tey have enough to but presents for everyone! It is funny cos I let htem have free rein on choosing!! Makes for some entertaining presents!! they buy for each other, a couple of close friends, me and grandparents.

My dc are 3 and 1. I think yes, we will get something small as a token. The 3yr old might make something instead (though she iss v keen on getting him a little doll of his own, as he loves playing with hers ). Can you tell she is going on about Christmas already?!

Last year, dd enjoyed the giving as much as the receiving - we let her give out all the pressies... And dd loves choosing presents for her friend's birthdays. So yes, help him choose something small and help him wrap it...

each of them gets a small token present from the other 2.

no mine don't.
They make cards for family members and a couple of their little friends but don't give presents to one another.
They help distribute presents from under the tree and if we visit people/have people over, they like to be the ones to hand over the presents.

We thought that this year we would give our 2 DSs (4 and 2.5) a gift card/voucher (from each other) for a smallish amount for the toy shop and then they can go and choose what they want. Not very personal but think they would like the whole experience of buying something after xmas to go with whatever they get from us or relatives....

I plan to take my 3 year old to a local shop and get her to help me choose small things for her baby sister, me, DH, my brother and Grandparents. I'll get some plain brown paper for her to decorate and then we'll wrap them...can't wait. I've got xmas spirit by the bucket load this year!

moondog - if my children got presents from grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends then I wouldn't bother with the token gift they "buy" each other. But as they don't and generally presents under the tree are from ermmmm, Father Christmas (one small present) and a handful of presents from ermm..........us it does make things a little more interesting when DS1 gets a present from "DS2 and 3" etc

I don't buy an extra present for them to give each other though, I just use one of the small "extras" that we would have given anyhow and mark it from them

Never have until this year but I'm becoming aware that the dc's (6 and 7) think that Christmas is just one big gravy train .

This year they are expected to buy or make small gifts (from their own funds) for each other, me, dh and grandparents (total cost about £10).

No its santa who brings presents isnt it?

busy - no santa delivers all the presents, and leaves one small present per child, but we buy the presents for them and Santa looks after them until Christmas.

last year my ds (then 6) polished up his old trike and put a ribbon on it to give to his sister (then 18m). He enjoyed being able to give her something and we'll probably try something similar this year.
