We like to watch a family DVD over Christmas but need to please everyone ( i.e. pre-teen,teenager, plus 70+ grandparents + me and DH...... )
Chick flicks out; old B&W out. Successful DVDs have included the Incredibles; Madagascar and Wallace & Grommit Werewolf. Any suggestions for this year please? Nothing too heavy and must suit 12 - 76 year olds plus difficult to please DH inbetween!!!

Toy Story?

Uriel · 21/11/2009 03:39

Scooby-Doo?
Does it have to be new this year?

CheerfulYank · 21/11/2009 03:40

Up! It's so lovely, I just adore it.

nooka · 21/11/2009 05:11

My Neighbour Totoro is lovely for all I think.

seeker · 21/11/2009 06:27

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
Mary Poppins
Enchanted
The Princess Bride
School of Rock

Depending on the grandparents, possibly Life of Brian or Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Blazing Saddles

Tambajam · 21/11/2009 06:39

I was going to say Princess Bride too.

sassy · 21/11/2009 06:52

Bolt
West Side Story (in fact most musicals)

seeker · 21/11/2009 07:19

The Muppet Christmas Carol

MaMight · 21/11/2009 07:40

The Emperor's New Groove is very funny and a good family favourite here.

Groundhog Day is my favourite Christmas film.

Freaky Friday maybe?

thereistheball · 21/11/2009 12:01

Starddust

DaftApeth · 21/11/2009 14:12

Madagascar 2

arolf · 21/11/2009 14:16

I'd second the Princess Bride and Muppet Christmas Carol

bogie · 21/11/2009 14:17

Home alone, Mary poppins, School of Rock, Shrek, Wizard of OZ

bluebump · 21/11/2009 14:21

It may be a bit old now but National Lampoons Christmas Vacation is hilarious.

Sagacious · 21/11/2009 14:36

Ghostbusters or Jurrasic Park

mermaidspurse · 21/11/2009 17:46

PfftTheMagicDragon · 21/11/2009 18:16

Up
Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs
Spirited Away
WALL-E
Juno (12)

JustGettingByMum · 22/11/2009 07:59

The Santa Clause - 1,2,or 3 - we love them all

RV - (Robin Williams cancels family exp vacation and instead takes them in an RV across the US to get to a secret board meeting - hilarious, lovely feel-good ending)

Night at the Museum 1 or 2 - thats what we'll be watching

lilolilmanchester · 22/11/2009 20:12

thanks all. Has to be a film we'd all like and too complicated to write the criteria down. "Up" most likely out of suggested so far, other suggestions great just not right for the difficult lovely people I am entertaining. Please keep ideas coming

Bad Santa, National Lampoons Christmas Vacation and Love Actually are some of my Christmas faves. But the best one EVER is....ELF! Hilarious and heart-warming at the same time.

cyanarasamba · 22/11/2009 20:38

Monsters Inc

suggy · 22/11/2009 20:46

Elf - or is this gross ? Makes me laugh and laugh
The Grinch - really sweet and funny ?

lilolilmanchester · 22/11/2009 20:49

Monsters Inc is EXACTLY the sort of film we're looking for - except we've all seen that several times and looking for something new. Bought National Lampoons Xmas vacation, my nephews were shocked by the bad language, which means my Mum would hate it too.

National Lampoons is a little crude at times, I agree. But Elf is FAB.
