My dad was telling DD1 that when he was a little boy all he got at Christmas was orange, some nuts and maybe if he was very lucky one very very very small toy (my Nan bought 3 boys up on her own after my dad's Dad left her when my Dad was 4 and my uncles 5 & 7 for another woman and never gave her a penny to help and she fought and fought to stop them going into care so money was very very short) DD1 said she was going to ask Father Chrsitmas to bring Grandad some presents for a stocking but I had to explain that FC doesnt visit grown ups only good children.

Anyway DD1 was counting her pennies and when I asked why she said she wants to buy grandad a special present so he doesnt feel sad (he does get presents now!) anyway I have said that she can put all her money away and that I will get some small bits (am thinking practical rather than tatt) for Nanny & Grandad and maybe we could wrap them up and get a stocking and take them when we see them on Christmas Day and say we helped FC she now looks like

Aww, what a lovely little girl you have. Thats a really good idea, let her help you choose what to get them(although if it was my 2 they would fill it with sweets)

How lovely to see your little girl being so thoughtful and caring, my heart would be melting!

Don't forget to put an orange and some nuts in there, too!

Lol I said we'd have to put orange and nuts in there and a very very small toy (she thinks grandad would like a yo yo ) she did remember on the way to scool that grandad likes pink and white sweets (nougat) and we have an old fashioned sweet shop in town so we'll have to pop in there and get him some of that, dd2 and I went to town quickly and we have got some socks for my Dad and tights for my Mum and got my Mum her fav lipstick to put in there. I am actually very pleased he sat down and told her as I think she understands how lucky she is and tbh most of her friends have a similar lifestyle to ours and I think she has realised that not everyone is as lucky as her
