I find it is such a difficult day. Everyone is tired and grumpy and has eaten too much of the wrong things.

We moped about for a bit (well, I did the moping; the children whinged and fought ) Dh was working which made it even harder.

I managed to pull myself together and made picnic. So we went for a short walk, a paddle in a stream, and a picnic lunch. Then back to watch Christmas films on television

What did you do?

not a lot at all
stayed in pjs all day as did we all.
Cooked gammon for lunch/dinner/to pick at.
Played with the DC and had an afternoon nap...
blissful!!

PestoHoHoHoMonster · 26/12/2008 21:06

Firstly a lie-in, then competing in a wii tournament (inter-family) and then off to the woods for a good long stomp. Stopped off half-way round for a drink & crisps and the dds let off steam in the pub playground outside. Then DH flew his new remote control airplane whilst dd1 attacked an assault course and dd2 & I practised our skipping games.

Came home and had a egg, ham & turkey & bubble & squeak meal. After that we had an ice-cube curling competition on the kitchen table. Then I rang my best friend in the USA and the dds have now finally had their baths & gone up to bed.

Cooked fry up for the stayover xmas day guests, fed cats leftovers, met DHs family for a walk, went back to SIL for food and drink , left at 8pm cos kids were tired (plus I was the driver and don't stay out late on lemonade nights!) DH now asleep in front of Pirates of the Carribean, kids a bed, me on MN with glass of cold Sauv blanc....not bad.

branflake81 · 27/12/2008 08:12

I did a fell race in the morning. Then sat on the sofa and ate chocolate all day while watching the kids fight over their toys. Went out for a drink in the evening with a friend I haven't seen for ages.

Dd got us up at 5.50am. She normally sleeps till 7 ish but we were staying at a friend's so portacot, no thick curtains so light coming in, etc.

Drove home (with dd, the dog and 2 friends staying with us for Christmas) from friends' house we had spent Christmas afternoon + night at.

Lovely sunny day with great views over the harbour as we drove home. Not really in mood to appreciate it as v little sleep and bit of a hangover.

Dh drove home a couple of hours later and took over looking after dd as I was v hungover by this point. Tried to go to sleep but house alarm went off in next street and went on for 3 hours, so couldn't sleep!

Nurofen and cups of tea to cope with the hangover. Then took over from dh so he could go to 20/20 cricket match (New Zealand-West Indies) with friends staying with us.

Thought I would be asleep as soon as dd was but managed to stay up till 10.30 watching Corrie and other TV.

Things were going well until I played at being a pouncing tiger with the little one. I was pouncing from behind the sofa but lost my balance and cracked my head on the skirting board...I felt all unusual and got sent off to bed early.
