Potted Christmas tree - what do I do now?

Had a look in gardening but no luck, so thought I'd try here.

I have a small Norway spruce in a pot in my porch but I don't know whether it's best to keep it in a bigger pot till next year or plant it in the front garden.

How often should I be watering it in it's pot? What should I do to prepare the ground if I plant it out in a week or so, or should i wait till Srping? I'm not a gardener so have no clue but don't want to end up killing it like I do with every other plant/shrub I buy.

TIA

If you hope to use it next yr i would plant in a bigger pot and it needs regular watering / feeding like any pot plant.

Think I'll try a bigger pot first. Thanks.
