Electric went off here yesterday at 11 came back on last night.
No gas it's freezing can't have wash am going to have to cancel dinner for family as no gas to cook either!

It worked!
Went to SIL's, came back about 5pm (I insisted we leave key with neighbour), we had gas.
Lovely and warm and sprouts were cooked "properly"

Did everyone get their gas back for Christmas day, or were some people left without?

Hi Sunnygirl, I heard that 16000 got their gas back, the other 2000 homes couldn't be contacted for the Gas man to go in and check it was safe, so I'm hoping that they were all away for Christmas!

Have to say, although the leak and explosion was a major cock up, National Grid really pulled out all the stops to get us all back on, the place was swarming with vans/men. I hope that the staff they got from all over the country had a very good Christmas too
