MILs christmas present to me and dh is.........

so i have been told,

MIL has gone out and upgraded her one cup kettle machine thingy and has wrapped her old one up for me and DH! No real problem with this except i know the jug is cracked and its been used now for over a year so will need new filters etc! Dh is annoyed as he doesnt even drink tea or coffee and only uses the kettle to deefrost the windscreen on the car or to get rid of ants nests! Obviously those jobs wont be possible with this one cup jobby!!!!!!

but then maybe im being ungrateful! Im sure MN will put me straight!

I would suggest you say 'ooh but someone else also bought us a kettle and this one will make a human sized cuppa rather than your munchkin one. But don't worry dear, I donated yours to charity so it hasn't gone to waste.

That is one of those gifts that just keeps on giving one irritation

lmao i know she sounds mad!!!! she isnt she is a very hip, young MIL who is not short of a bob or two and is normally very thoughtful with gifts!!!!! i did mention when she first got the one cup thing that it was coll but thats about as far as it went! its dh i feel sorry for cos he wont use it at all!

OTOH, it's a perfect excuse to wrap up some of your old tat and give it to her (and keep that lovely cashmere sweater you bought her for yourself...)

Maybe this is all part of an elaborate plot that sil is in on - mil has bought you something amazing, and the used kettle story is a total red herring.

I certainly hope so - because otherwise your mil is being beyond mean!

lol, no i think sil is telling the truth unfortunately, may drop it into conversation with mil!!!! the bit i find unbelieveable is that she has got herself a new one and is giving me the tat!!!!!
