What is FC drinking these days?

We always left a glass of sherry and a mince pie out for FC. A friend was horrified when I said that I planned to do the same (ds is 2 so FC is now on the agenda), drink-driving message and all that.

Am I just getting old, or do other people leave out something non-alcoholic in these more aware times? I was looking forward to this perk of parenting once ds had gone to bed .

Jack n coke in our house. And Mrs C gets one too
DS is too young for drink driving message - we'll tell him that it's the reindeer that do the flying of the sleigh, FC does the delivery bit

Iklboo · 22/12/2008 13:34

And tell your freind to lighten up!

CharleeInPantoPaperChains · 22/12/2008 13:35

Dp tries to get the boys to leave out a Boddingtons every year (his favorite drink) as apparently it's FC's fave to, but i always get them to do milk, we won't have FC drink/driving. Silly i know but my DS is the sort to pick up on that sort of thing.

Hmm, dh and I like our real ale. Might be time to introduce FC to some 'proper' beer .

cherryontopofthexmastree · 22/12/2008 14:42

MotherChristmas2OliverJames · 22/12/2008 15:16

We always used to leave out a glass of milk, but i was born into a non-drinking family.

Shitemum · 22/12/2008 15:17

turps

christMAScomesbutonceayear · 22/12/2008 15:22

ginger wine is always nice and warming I think..

SirCharlieStinkySocks · 22/12/2008 15:31

Sherry in our house and a mince pie of cookie and a carrot for Rudolph.

I love the smell of sherry at Christmas it reminds me of Christmas when I was little visiting my relatives.

I think there are other issues kids will eventually want answered concerning an elderly gent magically appearing in houses leaving gifts after being chauffeured around by flying reindeer rather than if he drinks and drives!!

leesmum · 22/12/2008 17:42

Father Christmas will be drinking whatever mummy fancies on Christmas Eve

SecretSlattern · 22/12/2008 17:43

Must be the only saddo who leaves milk out for FC then. Wouldn't mind, but neither DH or I like milk on its own so end up chucking it down the sink

blametheparents · 22/12/2008 17:50

Absinthe!

blametheparents · 22/12/2008 17:50

Absinthe!

TheInvisibleManDidItWithSanta · 22/12/2008 18:02

Santa gets Whisky and cookies at our house, and a carrot for the reindeer.

thean · 22/12/2008 18:53

Santa is too magical to be effected by alcohol otherwise wouldn't he be legless by the time he finished delivering to all the houses.

MotherChristmas2OliverJames · 22/12/2008 18:55

SS - fc will get milk in this house too, its DSs first xmas so it will become the tradition, milk, a mince pie and a carrot.

MadameCastafiore · 22/12/2008 18:55

Just spent about 5 minutes trying to work out who FC was - my first thought was Feckin C*nt!

JackieNoCribForABed · 22/12/2008 18:57

lol at 'absinthe' . (or should that be ?)

duckyfuzz · 22/12/2008 19:00

single malt in our house - how come I do all the shopping and wrapping but he gets all the credit

PigeonPie · 22/12/2008 19:02

In my sister's house it'll be either Hot Chocolate or beer depending on who won!

It'll be a 1987 Warre's port here

JingleBellaAllTheWay · 22/12/2008 19:03

Large gin & tonic, ice and lemon.

Thanking you....

PlonkerTeatowelOnTheirHeads · 22/12/2008 19:08

Bailey's here - he loves it ya know ...there's never a drop left

tinselandglittercoveredwincies · 22/12/2008 19:33

Madam!

I'm relieved that we've not gone completely mad yet. It made sense not to have a boozy drink in a teetotal household, but I too thought that explaining away flying reindeer was likely to be more of a problems than FC's ability to metabolise alcohol!
