I'd do mulled apple juice; same as for wine, but use apple juice and a couple of mugs of strong tea. Alcohol free wine is pretty rank. I suppose you could use a mixture of apple and grape juice if you want a rosier colour?

ok thanks.
i have a house full on christmas day and thought mulled wine would be nice, but due to lots of medical problems in the family many of us can't drink, those that can drive!!
so thought it had best be alcohol free

I do mulled fruit juice too. Love it. Add a glug of port to make instant mulled wine!

if you want to try the apple juice, just get some mulled wine sachets to throw in and add some apple slice and star anise, it looks beautiful and most people have so much alcohol from other sources, its nice to have a 'new' drink!

If you want the diy spices, for 1 litre juice I'd do 8 cloves, tsp cinnamon, 1/2 tsp nutmeg, 1/2 tsp ginger, sugar to taste, 1/2 lemon, juiced.

You add everything to the cold juice and heat. When it starts quivering, switch off heat then leave to infuse for 10 mins. Strain off the spices so you are left with the juice. You can microwave to reheat, then bung in apple slices and star anise to decorate jug!

I'm going to do cranberry juice and orange juice as a base for a no-alcohol version, and add a sachet and sugar

There is a cordial from Bottle Green in spiced berry, one part cordial to eight parts hot water. You can make the alcoholic mulled wine by substituting warm red wine for the water.

You can find it in large Tescos.
