Where do I get fresh turkey from

Okay, didn't get round to ordering a turkey from the butcher this year, which is what I usually do. If I go to the supermarket on 23rd will I be able to get hold of one - don't want a frozen one (don't have space in fridge for defrosting).

i doubt it. you normally have to reserve them in sainsburys

yes, you should be able to reserve a fresh one - but you might have missed the deadline, not sure. It was 15th Dec for Waitrose for ordering a goose, for e.g. - other places might have later/different dates for fresh turkey.

Any farms near you? You might be able to reserve and pick up at the farm.

Check with any butcher within driving distance of your house because you never know - they may have one available for you. I had a major balls up with Waitrose one year when the customer services chap insisted what I needed was a turkey crown rather than turkey breast roll (he sounded about 12 so of course he would know better than me, right??). As a result, the one that I collected from Waitrose on 23rd December was enough to feed 3-4 people.....and I was expecting 10 adults and 2 kids . Luckily my sis rang her local butcher and got me the correct weight and presentation of turkey! It really is worth a try as it may not be too late.

Butchers and farms great suggestions, will try that first. Otherwise will have to go cap in hand to sainsburys.

Ohh, actually just remembered a friend of mine works there so might be able to call in a favour if I need to.
