Not sure about the cheap adult ones. I have just bought DS (6) a VTech Kiddizoom one as he's very accident prone and I wanted something he could drop without causing too much damage. The write ups/reviews on Amazon were not brilliant though - poor photos etc - but I think I have bought the updated version which has had better reviews.

My dts are getting the vtech digital camera for chridtmas, they are suposed to be very durable and waterproof, hmm, we will see.

I wouldn't get a kid's one for a 7 year old TBH. The photo quality is very low quality, about 1meg at most. She'll grow out of it within months.

DD got her camera when she was 4-5y and I got her a chunky Canon Powershot, reduced from £120 to £60 in the sale. She figured out how to use it very quickly and it is far better quality.

yes thats what i thought. the kids ones look like they are for a 3 year old.

will have a look in the sales - i want one that is really easy to use.

The child I know with a kid's one is 3y and it is fine for her.

My friend bought her 8 year old one of those vtech digital cameras and she said it was crap. The photos came out all blurry (like a disposable) and it wouldn't connect to the PC so she could take photos off it.

I'd go with a cheap adults one. You can get them for around £30 I think.

I have bought a £25 digital camera from Tesco - their own brand Technika. It comes in silver, blue or pink and is 5 megapixel. After reading the poor reviews for kids digital cameras thought we might as well get our nearly 5 year old this one. Obviously if he drops it it won't bounce like the special children's ones but at least the photo quality might be a bit bette and we can put them on the computer for him.

thanks will have a look - tescos are good if it goes wrong thanks.

I bought a technika from Tesco for DS aged 5 - a blue one. It only costs £25.00 - who cares of he drops it in the river.
The reviews for the Kiddizoom and Fisher Price are not good so that put me right off.
