Have to buy something for a 10 year old boy. Don't know what he's into (and difficult to find out, long story).

Any safe bets? Around the £20 mark. What about this Ben 10 thing?

TIA.

Ben 10 probably a little young for most of the 10 year olds I know. I would go for an hmv voucher for anyone between 10-20 whom I didn't know very well.

WilfsElf · 11/12/2008 15:15

Too young.

What you want is Bop It or one of those tiny light indoor helicopters...

WillburyNibbleQC · 11/12/2008 15:16

itunes voucher
something like the guiness book of records / dangerous book for boys
a watch

ben 10 is a bit young.

ABudafulSightWereHappyTonight · 11/12/2008 15:19

I just bought my nephew the Guinness Book of Records and he loved it.

ScummyMummy · 11/12/2008 15:25

Guinness book of records is a winner if he doesn't already have it. Caught one of my 9.5 year olds reading it under the covers after lights out yesterday.

Thanks all!

I agree with Guiness Book of Records. Also, last year Ds1 got one of those 20Q things. They are great. They are aobut £9.99

bellaBuonNatalevita · 12/12/2008 08:36

My DS1 (11.5)loves getting the Guinness Book of Records and last year he got one of those 20Q things too - still plays with it.

AussieLou · 12/12/2008 09:20

Definately have to agree on the Guinness Book. Also the Ripleys belive it or not is a winner too.

metoo2222 · 12/12/2008 09:49

Yeah Ben 10 is too young.

Any factual book about space, fascinating facts etc, or one of those how to be the best at everything boys books.

Also the lego bionicles are good for that age, about 7.99.

Yep, agree with the 20Q too.

PeachyBidsYouNadoligLlawen · 12/12/2008 09:54

ds1 (9) says ben10 too young also

he likes lego, bionicles, guinness book of records, cash (!), spy stuff (whsmith have some sets a 10 yr old would love on offer)

MrsMuddle · 12/12/2008 10:16

Second 20Q. And some good factual books are
Do Not Open and The Gadget Book (as well as the Guinness Book of Records and Ripleys.)

Also Harry Hill's joke book is going down a storm with the 10-year-olds that I know.

GoodWilfToAllMN · 12/12/2008 10:36

Yes, we have been subjected to the Harry Hill jokebook for weeks.

Also science kits good (lots of those around now - blowing things up, electricity etc...)

cherryontopofthexmastree · 12/12/2008 10:39

avatar, dr who and bakugan are all things my (nearly) 10 yo ds would like.

SammyK · 12/12/2008 10:39

Bionicles, ripleys curiosities or guiness books, 20q, all good suggestions, i agree ben10 too young.

Does he like football? my dss very into football so nike or adidas football would go down well.

DVDs

My 11 year old is into Meccano sets at the moment, you can get some decent sets for around £20.
