Homemade crackers - where does the snap thing go?

I have some snap things left from a previous year and am going to do homemade crackers with toilet roll and wrapping paper. DO you put the snap thing between the wrapping paper and the loo roll? Or thread it through the loo roll itself?

through the loo roll. I taped each end down onto the inside of the cardboard otherwise they would slip out the other end

you can still pull it (I hope - haven't done one yet!) as it is only the end of the banger taped down and the centre will still snap apart. Mine were not fully home made, but from an ELC kit but I don't see why it should be any different!

In the loo roll, and tiny piece of tape just off centre away from the banger bit.

I have everything apart from hats - what are you doing for hats?

Thanks everyone. Not doing hats - hate them! I will get ds1 (7 yrs old) to write the jokes - he is really into them anyway. Just going to use thin wrapping paper for the outside.
