What are you buying yours?

what kind of things does she normally play with?
My DD is 5 and getting a really big pram that will last her (size wise) for several years. she will absolutely love it, and as she already has a very small pram it has not occured to her to ask santa for another one, so it will be a huge surprise
Although I know lots of 5/6 yr olds who have outgrown prams and dolls.

does she have a bike, a scooter, a dolls house?

6y DD is having from us:
digital piano (not really counted in budget though as pretty much a one off investment instead);
Take That tickets (suprise from FC);
a rainbow light thing (got it free with voucher in the end);
Mamma Mia DVD;
some books;
some sewing bits and pieces and probably some craft bits as stocking fillers.
We have also bought her a new outfit to wear when we go out for dinner on Christmas Day, but she has seen this.

PILs and great grandad have bought her a CD player with iPod docking station. (DH is getting new iPod for Christmas so she will get ours then).

My parents have bought her a Barbie Plane/Boat toy, plus some other bits. They also arrange for the Christmas fairy to leave a new set of PJs or nightie at their place on Christmas Eve.

My brother has bought her electronic drumsticks and a magic set.

My sister and boyf have bought her craft kits, inc a Hannah Montana one.

I think BIL and SIL are getting HSM doll.

She will also have some gifts from other relatives and also friends.

DD is an only child, only grandchild and one side and one of two the other side, and I have quite a big family who still buy.

DD1 is nearly 6 but we live in the sticks so we are not exactly up with the latest trends (!). She is getting:

Disney mini princess dolls set
Sleeping Beauty DVD
HSM 2 CD
New pens and stuff (she's very into drawing)
Some books to read herself as recommended by Hulababy !

She is NOT getting craft sets as her birthday is the second week of Jan and I have found from experience that that's the main thing she tends to get as party gifts from friends.

Bramshott · 06/12/2008 19:57

Ooh, mind you, might have to search for Dalmatian pups in a bag now!

dd's 5 3/4, we're getting her:

magnetic dress up doll
one of those enormous doodle books, a xmas one
a groovy girl doll ("from" dd2)
a label maker
book of xmas stories
dog top trumps
random stocking fillers inc candy canes and stickers

gps are getting her the my little pony fairground again argos half price and a puffin book club membership where she gets to pick a book from a monthly (?) magazine. uncle getting her hsm dvd.

she's also got a new outfit (ebay!) and we're going to see cinderella on ice on xmas eve

dd is 6.5, will be getting from us a penguin themed board game 'Hey, that's my fish', a set of Secret 7 books (her request to FC), a small hammer and selection of nails (also FC request) and an Usborne 101 things to do box.
My Mum is giving her a learn to knit set and I think another making kind of set plus taking her to the pantomime
