She is DH's step mum, so he knows nothing more about her than me. Normally go for smellies or summat, but... we're spending xmas there so it needs to be vaguely decent this year.

On a v tight budget, £20 is absolute limit, and anything that costs a lot less, but looks more is good.

She is quite an elegant woman, likes "nice" things.

Erm... that's about it for my knowledge

Does she drink tea and use a teapot ?
I make lovely tea cosies & egg cosies. If you are interested take a peep here

My plain teacosies ie: no fancy applique start at £20.00

flamesparrow · 04/12/2008 17:54

I don't think she is a book person, and I can't be sure enough about the tea cosy tbh (although I am eyeing up the egg ones for someone else )

What about a subscription to a nice quality mag like 'Country Living' ?

I'd like one of those !

Tillyboo - I love your stuff!! Where do you sell it?

Flame - Mag subscription is a good one, do you have any clubcard points? You can use them for that - Good Housekeeping or something? Could you ask FIL what she likes?

Tillyboo · 04/12/2008 19:58

Mogs0 - Thanks so much ! It's lovely to hear good feedback. I have a website but it's under construction at the moment. You can have a look at my blog here. There are lots of examples of my work on there. Contact details are on there too. I basically sell through word of mouth or enquiries from my blog.

I take commissions so if you see something in particular in my Flickr photo's or my blog that you are interested in please drop me an email.

Oops ! sorry to digress away from the original post.

  1. Quality mag subscription
  2. Vouchers for a massage, facial, manicure etc.
  3. Nice leather gloves in bright colour
  4. Handbag charm
  5. Posh Lippy

I'll keep thinking .... My MIL is very difficult too as she doesn't ever digress from what she is used to. Aghhhhhhh !
