What on earth do I buy him?

He doesn't drink. He reads books, but gets those from the library.

I'm getting him a Brainiac DVD. And maybe a subscription to lovefilm? They live in the middle of nowhere, so that might be nice ...

He doesn't have any hobbies. Shopping for him is a nightmare. I've debated buying him a course or something, but odds are, he wouldn't go ...

Already bought them that jigsaw. Don't think they did anything with it.

Yeah, newspaper might be an idea, maybe more for a birthday, but yeah, worth a go.

What about getting theatre vouchers from [http://www.theatregifttokens.com/order_theatre_tokens.php here] I have just ordered some for my pil who have everything but they enjoy going to the theatre. There is bound to be something he is interested in! And you can use them in loads of theatres.

Hmmm ... I think FIL sometimes goes to the theatre, but only because MIL makes him.

Frankly, typing all this about him makes me think he's depressed. It makes me depressed, thinking about having so few things you like!

My FIL is the same - no hobbies, doesn't do sport, he doesn't read books - only tabloids, doesn't listen to music, rarely drinks etc etc.
So I have got him a bottle of Whiskey and 3 pairs of white towelling socks !
Nah, not really, I got him some nice shirts and the latest Indiana Jones.
I feel your pain btw ...

what about a photo calendar of the grandchildren - or old family photos?

My FIL loves his - he says it's the hightlight of his year!!

Photobox do really good quality ones.

Yes, a photo calendar might make sense. Will talk over the options with DH.

House full of children, all go today. I want to hide under a bed.

DH thinks lovefilm sub is the way forward, so we're doing that.
